I know its probably something for another forum but I had similar problems on the old HD - actually in reverse - Id load up the Budgie and
get the default 172 cockpit - as to flynet - its worked great for us - havnt audited recently but wew have over a hundred flights using the client and
it works perfectly - Joe had some odd electrical problems but they seem
to have sorted themself out . of course we are only operating 748s so
theres little chance of "cross contamination" - well see when we start operating 1-11s

Cheers

Yup..

I'm pretty certain it's not the client as I've over a hundred flights on it myself and the only common denominators are the 748 and Scotland (Scotflight)! Although I've had the odd prob with Scotland over the years and none with the 748.. the mix seems an unhappy one on my system as I've flown other routes in different aircraft up there without a problem  I've taken the 748 from Liverpool to the IoM and back without incident so what can I say :dunno:
I'm almost certain that the 748/Scotland issue is unique to my pc and at this point, I'm not really sure I can be bothered to look for an answer

Goodness, don't give up on my account, Steve.
Nor on mine either!
Mine's just a couple of runways and a taxiway dumped on top of the VFR scenery and filled out with some standard macros If you can do something better, go for it and I'll be the first in the queue to download
ditto!
I did it because Thorney Island was the first place I got airborne from as a 14 year old ATC cadet (in a Hastings)
Gosh there's a coincidence, Thorney was my first flight (aged 13 and 3/4
in 1975 ) in one of these

later the same week followed up by 2 hrs in the back of a Herc .

Small world,i did a few hours in a closed canopy version of the t21 aircraft, when stationed at marham, 1976 1979,and i did my first solo in the same type.
the one at marham was only converted to a closed canopy,by the CFI,while the aircraft was being repaired by him after someone did an heavy landing, and bent it a little.

Hi Motormouse

Silly question now.

would the trees on Thorney Is be conifers rather than deciduous ?.

Just asking so i get them right.

Regards
Rick

Y'know Rick,I honestly can't remember!

But using my past knowledge of other UK bases,I would suggest a healthy mix of both types, generally conifers around the Officers accomodations, don't want the lesser ranks seeing all those nice houses!
With yew, oak, birch and others filling in elsewhere.

Rick, check out the bird's eye views on local.live.com (the very website you recommended me the other week  ), it clearly shows the whole area, trees included. Seems to be mainly deciduous!

I'm presently located about 2 miles from Thorney!

Most of the trees on the (former) RAF station proper are deciduous; towards the church, at East Thorney, they are a bit more of a mixture of deciduous and conifers.
