I'll await it's arrival
Dave a 17" TFT gives you 17" whereas a 17" CRT gives 16" and sometimes even 15".

Chris..
Yes.. I'm aware of the viewable area of CRT's. I have more here than PC World and probably know more about em too!
The cd writer...
I waited until they eventually dropped below the 'magic' £200 mark and forked out £190 for my first.. an HP unit (that I probably still have here somewhere)

Looking at the manual (which I still had in my bookshelf) it was an HP Surestore 7200i which equated to x2 speed writing. My first cd reader was a quad that cost me a cool £120

Oh.. just for the record, the feint line I mentioned last Tuesday has got progressively worse so an RMA has been requested.
Happy as a pig in sh*t and just about sums up my luck

Ding dong, bing bong..
To finally end the tft saga.. an RMA was received and my 6-day-old monitor was posted back to MicroDirect on Monday for next day delivery. Today is Friday and a shiney new replacement has arrived. The old Mag Innovision 15" has been placed into retirement
again and all is well with the world.
Not a bad service from MicroDirect.. they sent the replacement out AMTRAK next day (at their cost) though I am still down £18 postage for my return. Horses for courses I suppose.
I'd buy from them again anyway
Regards
