As some of you Guy's may or may not know, They're relocating the SAR HQ (I think it's the HQ) to Valley next year. I have also heard that they will be looking to implement a civillian run maintenance service too, as they did with our Hawk fleet.

That I don't have a problem with. As long as the crews remain on Her Majesty's payroll the idea is fine in principle, as long as they are given decent, capable kit to replace the Sea King (Merlin variant, NH90 etc etc)

Why don't they outsource everything. That way only those who have the money can get the service
sounds like you gents suffer from the same trickery
we do in the states.
numbers never lie
:-$ but liers use numbers
how I really like to see them have their finger snapped
off when they get caught sticking them in the cookie jar
old ppl who served us in the big wars so we can have what
we have to day. and we (our represenitves ) thank them by giving them the decision between food or medication :brick:

Just click on the quote icon of the post you want to quote and it will appear in a new reply window.

You can cut bits out but you must leave the end codes in place.

Don't forget to preview before you post and you will be able to see if it looks OK.

I can't Imagine alot of things happening,
 mainly because I've havn't yet had the
thought that inspires an image in my imagination. that
brings to realization, or a revelation, an image I can
picture in my imagination. thereby bringing to end
the process of this laborious, boring, explanation

However many a time I have been presented with
hard case proof..... No imagination required

If you build something dummy proof
somebodys gonna build a better Dummy

and even more scary than that, :-$ they sometimes
self-evolve

Privitisation to me is bad in many respects, essential services should never be contracted out, for when they are the company that operates the license will always be looking to making a profit!!!! Just look at the water and electricity industry for example, I know this cannot be compared to the threat of privitising the SAR but.........!!!!!

One worry is that in ten or twenty years time will civilian pilots then be able to handle rescues as proffessionally as the Navy or RAF do now flying in blizzards, poor vis or near cliffs with the rotor blades inches from the cliff face not forgetting the wind trying to blow the helicopter into the cliff itself as happened to one recue attempt many years ago, landed with a missing rotor blade I believe.
