I visited Houston years ago on a job interview and was struck by the apparent lack of any zoning. Needless to say I declined the offer. It appears that this helter skelter development has played a major role in the flooding problem. Rather a long article but very interesting.

I can only repeat that I found Chris' comments interesting, and they do seem to agree with the news bulletins that we've seen, also confirmed by Brian. In short, MORE of a water than wind event.
I have to feel that someone, like Chris, who is actually involved, knows what he's talking about.

I have to agree with Mike and Chris, especially after reading the article cited in my prior post. Houston has had constant flooding problems that have become progressively worse in recent years. The rain is far more a threat than the Hurricane winds. In any Hurricane event, more deaths are caused by water than wind. My two cents worth.

I've enough on this week without having to play policeman to a bunch of grown men. Keep it civil or don't bother. I haven't read through it all yet, but I'm locking it in the mean time.
