Re: Just Flight A2A 25% Sale

I had a think tonight about which aircraft normally show 'slightly odd' glass and one that sprang to mind was Ant's Trojan. Even with no weather selected.. the glass in that loads very pale white before clearing. Low and behold.. this one does it too.. probably worse than A2A's. I dunno.. would it be the spec causing it?
BTW.. the Uhu's glass was odd even before I had SC. I saw others had reported it at A2A too but it was ignored

Re: Just Flight A2A 25% Sale
I did post some screenshots of flying through clouds, but deleted them, and these ones show the effects of reducing the visibility distances using the customize-weather settings. P3Dv2.5, by the way;
Visibility set to 400 metres:

Visibility set to 200 metres:

Visibility set to 100 metres:

So there you go Dave. On a foggy night, the Lancaster tail gunners could see them from miles away.
EDIT: I've posted on the A2A Uhu forum about it.

Re: Just Flight A2A 25% Sale
Well good luck with that mate
IF someone deems it worthy of an answer.. you'll be told its because they use 'non-standard' materials for the glass
What, you may ask, is 'non-standard' materials
It would be great (and IMHO, worthy of A2A's reputation) if they were to offer an alternative (nay.. standard) glass texture for those experiencing such problems. Even if it wasn't the 'A1.. dogs blx' they think it is.. it'd be infinitely better than glowing glass.

Further experimentation shows it happens with default clouds too - not just Rex ones. Also, you can see the effect in the civilian Mustang and the Spitfire, though its not quite so blanked out as the Uhu. These two pictures are with visibility set to 100 metres:

If they are using a non-standard technique with the glass, they didn't use it with the P-47:

200 metres viz:

100 metres viz:

No problem at all with the Thunderbolt, and the glass looks just as realistic in the sim as the other ones.
Dave, have you tried altering the visibility setting in FSX ? Not sure it will help, but it might confirm the problem .

Re: Just Flight A2A 25% Sale
Hi Paul
I never crank in that close with a view to seeing the aircraft close up in cloud.. I take whatever the default 1st zoom is in spot view. My default flight is no cloud (as such) and 20nm vis. The only time I see clouds is when I want to see them and that's using ASN.
I forgot I also have the P47 (installed too) but fly it so rarely, it's easy to forget
The Corsair has good glass too as does the Anson and what little there is.. the 504. Try your experiment with the others I listed earlier (I know you have the Strat) and you'll see the same effect. Interesting that you're seeing this with default clouds and with reduced vis. This in effect is how denser clouds display with REX/SC.
Don't forget though.. A2A are right and we are wrong

Hmm..
Annoyingly.. I've just discovered that some (but not all) of the WBS Mustangs do this too. Fortunately.. the one I fly most doesn't (Frankie) but Candyman does as does Twilight Tear
