Re: PC Holy Grail??????

Took the 60 day free trial.
Hit the start key and got this warning.
Backed off and set up a new cache task using C:\ let it have 3000-odd Mb to play with.
Launched FSX.
Load about same time as usual.
Went to Edmonton default runway, Baron 58
You remember the fps I quoted when comparing Steam with Avgas FSX?
EDIT:Comparison report:
Location; Edmonton Int'l (default scenery)
Aircraft Baron 58 standard instruments.
Cockpit view 0.7 zoom
Sim not paused.
Display settings equal (shadows, ground shadows, traffic, water effects etc)
The Steam scenery wasn't as good as ordinary FSX
FSX Steam Edition 85-89 fps
FSX "Avgas Edition" 89-92 fps
With the free trial running, I registered high 70s to low 90s.
Conclusion: Without "Invisible Memory" there's nothing gained on my system. I was already using spare disc space as virtual video RAM anyway, so it's probably done nothing that wasn't already done.
Anybody want to test with a higher level computer than mine?
Cheers, Mike.

It's the darndest thing. I had some of this invisible memory, but I put it down to go answer the front door and now I cannot for the life of me find it.......

Here's the $0.00000000 you need for the 60 day free trial Dave.
Spend it wisely.

Re: PC Holy Grail??????
Already spent mate
We could all probably make our FSX installs run a wee bit better by using good practices and the correct tweaks but I think you already hit the nail on the head. The only sure-fire way to get it to run better is to upgrade. I honestly don't think there is any Holy Grail. FSX Booster was supposed to be 'The' tool to have and how many of us who have it still use it?? I don't anyway

After all that faffing about Mike I am surprised that your eyes in your avatar had not popped out even further.
Many thanks for your comparisons, think I'll just stay where I am and hope that the lottery comes up one day so I can get me a super duper computer!!
Regards
Nigel.

Re: PC Holy Grail??????
Latest update:
Today I saw the blue screen of death, emblazoned with a message about memory mismanagement, blah blah for a whole page.
System rebooted itself.
Operator cancelled the caching task.
Operator is probably going to uninstall primocache, which has now been demoted to lower case intentionally.
