My efforts with WMM were dismal, it clipped sequences for me, but then told me that they were wrong format.
Don't understand, as they started as AVI and all WMM did was remove unwanted frames.
Wierd, my version of WMM has edited both mp4 & .avi saved from Bandicut, my version is V 2012 build 16.4.3528.0331.

Thanks for the info Keith.
I was running Windows Live MM V2011 blah blah
When tracing that detail, I was surprised to see last night's effort sitting there for me to replay.
[It had been greyed out and marked with the "breakdown" sign [! in the yellow triangle], along with the message that it "needs to be fixed"]
Whether it would in fact save, has now become academic, as I've d/l "your" version. Why my auto updates didn't keep "Essentials" up to date is beyond me.
System needs a reboot (make that a kick up the backside) before the update is effective.
This is good timing, as SWMBO just finished cleaning the kitchen, and I'm off to cook us a rice dinner, while she watches Antiques Roadshow.

Here is my 11 min video of my WIP Dragonfly. Quality is a bit disappointing seeing as its supposed to be viewable in HD 1080p full screen, my master replays better & of course the model in FSX & FS9 better still.
G-AEDU is still in the hangar & ZK-AYR needs the pop-ups & the 2D cockpit, possibly another months work.

Keith, :welldone:
There was only a few seconds that went out of focus, the rest looked fine. I'm sure that you're right about losing a bit of quality in the recording process; it must look even better in the sim.
I like your satin finish, and quite apart from the exterior which we've had a peek at before, I was impressed by the cockpit detail.
Was this a NZ airport? It certainly was busy, but I saw at least one USA rego.

Blackbushe, but I cannot remember whose version, might be Alf's. Other scenery is JF VFR Real Scenery.

Ah, Blackbushe, not far from Farnborough and Aldershot.
We used to pass that way driving down to Hayling Island for holidays.
Judging by your current avatar location, seems that you aren't far from the nature reserve.
Do you happen to know why they closed the airport which you refer to?

Blackbushe...ahhh memories. My father first worked there in 1948 & he kept his Proctor there for many years until the airport closed in 1963. I worked at Farnborough for just over 13 years in the 70's & early 80's. Took both (motorbike & car) my driving tests in Aldershot.

Souche (Niort) is not completely closed AFAIK, but it has lost its government rating & funding because it never achieved its hoped for usage.

Nature reserve, Chize forest; yes I suppose it is, with the CNRS (government science lab) there. ( It used to be a US bomb dump until about early 1970's.)
They had a terrible storm around here in 2000 & it flattened about 30% of the forest, it looked like pictures of the Somme in WW1 in places. Now it has grown up mostly naturally & they are now managing it by clearing up the unwanted stuff.
AFAIK the CNRS concentrate on wild fauna & flora & breeding deer, boar etc to repopulate other areas in France.
Plenty of Hunting types (chasseurs) around either on Horseback or on foot with & without guns. Amount of each breed & seasons as well as days for killing is strictly controlled, so nothing like Fox hunting as in UK. Very difficult to get hold of what they kill though as it seems they distribute it amongst themselves except for the occasional mechsuay(? Spelling?) thats a hog roast to others!!!!

I'm currently trying to edit a video of my Dragonfly, but I'm looking for a free programme that will allow me to crop the frame, so far two have failed either by crashing or not seemingly having a button to press to save it. One more is under test! Will keep you posted.
Hi Keith,
I used to use Virtual Dub which allows you to crop videos and best of all it is free. Tony, otherwise known as Techie gave me full instructions as to how to use it but as I have not done any videos for a long time I put it somewhere where I can no longer find it!! :wall:

http://virtualdub.org/

I would recommend this programme but unfortunately I cannot advise you on how to use it unless of course Tony comes by and can send me another instruction sheet!! 8) Having said that if anyone here has used it, would you mind passing on your experience?

Just had a look at YouTube and here is a two and a half minute video of cropping with Virtual Dub.

Also some help here:

Nigel, just a quick look on the virtualdub site says it can only really handle .avi files, which might be a limitation in uploading to some places. It seems youtube prefer mp4 but I think my Meteor (no longer on youtube) was an avi.....
Thanks for the lead though, when I have a bit more time I might give it a try.

Hi Keith, as far as I am aware, when you first record a video from FS say onto Fraps that video can then be edited through VirtualDub to crop as required then after saving it to whatever format you want AVI etc. it can then be edited through Microsoft Movie Maker or other software.

Anyway, just a thought for future cropping.

Nigel.
