I've had a good look at the AI/Gyro and TBH.. I can't tell WTF it's supposed to be saying

There are differences in how it reads port and stbd. I've not come across this type of AI/Gyro before (not that I remember anyway) so I think some advice from Martin is required.. assuming he had an original in the aircraft he's flown in

Dave and Martin too... I'll post some screenshots this weekend. Martin, maybe you or someone else familiar with the type, will be able to explain it more. I'm reluctantly thinking of once more venturing over to Sim Outhouse with the query - I'd prefer not to, really, but needs must etc.

Are you guys running the avenger in P3D V3?
I'm having a problem with the engine in P3D. I follow the checklist and take off, but after about 10 seconds in the air I suddenly loose power and there are no way of getting the engine back to life. Something in the engine management I have forgotten or any other ideas?

Hello mate
I saw your post at SoH and have been trying to think what the problem might be. I only run it in FSX and to be honest.. I've only used the EFM version. It runs just fine in FSX. I know of one user here who has P3D so we'll see what he says.

It is sort of a mystery, the engine dies without any abnormal reading in the gauges.. I have changes air file with no change. Can it be some coding which are not compatible with P3D? That is also strange as it sounds like several on this forum is using P3D with this model.
A shame as I have several British BPF paints going on, they were never finished due to this problem.

I've got the Avenger, and I've got P3D v3 - unfortunately, not at the same time. The attitude indicator was getting on my pip, but I can't remember any engine problems after ten seconds. Mind you, that might be because after nine seconds, I uninstalled it.
The Insomnia EDIT: Jens, I'll reinstall it later today and see if I can help out.

Hi Jens,
Just re-installed the Avenger in P3DV3 and it appears I have the same problem as you - after about 10 seconds, the engine dies, while pouring out smoke. This is using the realistic flight model, as opposed to the easy one, by the way. I selected the default Bonanza, turned everything off, then selected the Avenger, and made sure everything was cold and dark. However I couldn't start the engine using the procedure in the manual, so I had to use Ctrl+E.
If, however, I start with the default aircraft running, and then change to the Avenger so that it too is running, I have no problem. The engine continues to run.
Now, if you manage to get it flying, try turning in each direction. With the realistic flight model I have found that if you hold the controls full left or full right, the aircraft returns to level flight after a few seconds. The ailerons are still at full deflection, but it flies along level. With the easy flight model, no problem - it keeps banking.
The attitude indicator - the angle of bank shows correctly when turning right, but barely shows at all when turning left. Can you confirm this with your aircraft ?

Paul,
Thanks for taking a look at it. It is exactly the same issues I have been having. As a last resort I swapped out all engine related section in the cfg file with entries from the VS Hellcat and making the effect values resemble the TBM and then the engine issue disappears. So it must be some engine parameter which P3D does not like. As long as I can get the aircraft going I can live with the gauge issue.
Dave and Paul, what do you guys think about his fat girl..?
Avenger Mk.II JZ466 "380" of 848 Sqn is widely published with drawings in both books and decal sheets, but I cannot understand that both books and decals shows it with USN Long Beach fonts for the fuselage number! This includes the Osprey combat aircraft Avenger book. To my knowledge so was this font not even in use by the US navy during ww2! To my knowledge so was fonts similar to the so called RAF851 and RAF641 seen on most if not all FAA aircraft of the BPF.

I like that a lot. Even before I have it it's my favourite Avenger paint
I've looked for (but never found) details of Squadron paints for the Avengers we carried on the escort carriers running the Russian convoys. How the hell they even fit on there I don't know but they did and were used to great effect.

Thanks Dave! I also really like the BPF scheme on the Avenger.
Both the USN and British use of the Avenger from the small escort carriers on convoy escort duty are really fascinating, it must have been scary as hell to fly of the small ships in the heavy sea state the north Atlantic brings on. I have seen a few pics of the CVE's rolling and banking almost like a roller-coaster. Just think about trapping in such weather! Respect to the aviators which flew from these ships. The RN used the same camo scheme on the Avengers used in Europe, so it is not that hard to put on some new ordinary British roundels.
