I looked at the contents of both .zip files earlier, and there are not many common files within them. In the twin engine pack, some of the files have been renamed as left... and right... (and in general these aren't the same size as the single engine equivalent) with of course matching changes in the .cfg file - which to some degree explains why the single .zip is around 13 Mb and the twin is over 20 Mb. Gary certainly put some effort into making these as representative of the single and twin engined aircraft as possible.
No doubt someone with more experience in this field could re-invent a single pack from the twin, but on the whole it's far easier to just download the single pack from Keith's link ...

EDITED POST:
Whilst the L & R sounds are the same, the .cfg allocates different P.O.V. s to each engine, so there is a stereo effect, even though the sound is coming through both channels simultaneously.

Thanks Keith and Ro.
I was up early this morning so I thought I'd try the Provost in the version of P3D I keep at home for testing the Lightning sim and the good news is it works.
The only issue I could see in the short test flight I had time for was the black prop disc I think you mentioned. I'm sure someone here will know if there's a fix for this but it shouldn't be an issue if there isn't. If we do convert the Provost cockpit, I'll only be using the flight dynamics, the sound and an exterior scenery view - the general sims use FS2004 so this won't happen there.
I'll re-install FS2004 over the weekend and do some comparisons.
Thanks again
Pete
PS yes, I do know about Pompey's very own "Twin Towers".

Pete,
Thanks for those shots, The prop disc might be a case of changing the prop.bmp in the texture file, but not having P3D cannot check. Maybe someone else can experiment?
Simple check to delete/rename the prop.bmp might tell you something?
Hope you got the sound file OK.
Keith
P.S. I will do a comparison check of my Flight Dynamics as I think I played with it a bit after publication trying to improve the spin characteristics......I just keep fiddling, thats my problem!

That's not a problem Keith - in this game it's a virtue!

Yes you're right, Keith. The only FSX/P3D prop texture bmp I could find (the others were dds) was one for the C182. As an experiment I used this, suitably renamed, to replace the 4 Provost textures that contained the word 'prop' and hey presto, the black disc had gone which, as you suggested, does confirm where the problem lies.
Can anyone here suggest a more suitable texture file for permanent use?

Pete,
I found the prop.bmp for the C182, in my copy of FSX listing for the Beaver, funnily enough its a .dds for the C172!
Anyway, not having P3D I do not know what is wrong with just substituting that file for P3D use, does it have a wrong colour for the tips? If so I can unscramble it using DXTbmp, change the tip colour, then recombine into 32 bit bmp, & then e-mail back to you.
Keith
Edit, It might just need the alpha reversing - its white for no shine in FS9, I believe thats the opposite for native FSX & P3D.
Edit2.
Just experimented with the C182 prop in FSX - not good there as it becomes very shiny when static (because I used the prop textures for all 3 states of prop animation in Gmax) & also when engine running. Also tried reversing the alpha & that does the same, but that was converting it to DXT3 format. So no result at moment.
Spinning: It looks as if I have not done any more air file updates to get it to spin better - It will go OK to the right with just rudder, but to the left it needs aileron to get over the initial (insipient) stage. Recovery is standard both ways.

Hi Keith,
I took a few screenshots this morning to illustrate the main differences - the Provost seemingly having a larger prop diameter than the C182 being the most obvious.
FS2004
P3Dv1.4
FS2004
P3Dv1.4
Not sure why number two has come out smaller than the others. Incidentally, the colour differences are due mainly to me manipulating the shots in Photoshop to make sure the discs showed as well as possible - in the sims, there's little difference between them.
Thanks very much for all your help and interest.
Pete

The FS2004 scenery looks better than P3D.
