Another daft question, HP printers dont like having the USB plugged in untill the software tells you to plug it in, did you leave it unplugged untill then?

I recommended a Samsung laser up there a bit. I thought "I've had it a while, must be getting near time to buy new toner. Research, research, research. The new toner costs , not less than the original printer. Oh No, not comparable to the price of the original printer, but DOUBLE the price! Are we supposed to just chuck the whole thing out and buy a new printer. Never mind Staples having a bin to collect old cartridges, they should have a bin to collect one time only used printers. The world is cock-eyed and I object.

Hi Alex. I read about this the other day in Which? magazine whilst researching printers. They did indeed say that a toner cartridge can often cost more than a new printer and then gave a link on advice on recycling your old printer! They reckon that a drum can give 20,000 pages so I guess you divide that by the cost of the printer and one drum and when it's finished you start over. It's a mad world true enough
