Hi Nigel,
For those like me, whose brain fps drop when reading the above hi tech posts, you may try this at Flightsim:
FSX - FSX Misc.
FSX Configuration File
[ Download | View ]

Name: config1.zip
Size: 1,001 Date: 02-07-2013 Downloads: 690

FSX Configuration File. Configuration File for Microsoft Flight Simulator X gives you the best quality and high frame rates, >20 FPS. Just copy to your ...\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files then start FSX and go to settings. Click load and select the file. Note: backup your original settings by clicking save. By Anas Sayed.

Or if you like spending money, there's EXTREME FSX PC. That has the option of choosing cores, but from the previous posts, this might be a total waste if FSX ignores it anyway? BEN HEEEELP!!!! :help: :stupid:

I think using someone elses cfg file like this is just asking for trouble

Some tweaks which work well on one system can cause CTDs and other issues.

Hi Chaps.....I'm back!! :hello:

Been off on a long week-end so only just read through all of your replies. Updated my G-Force 560 with the 310.90 driver over the week end and found that FSX ran like a geriatric old dog!!!!! Uninstalled and went back to the 306 version and after a bit more tweaking got a few more fps, sorry, should also have added that most of the sliders are to the right and when using say the Rapid on cross country the fps are around the 30 - 50 mark. At Manchester with the Capt Sim 737 I get between 18 - 35 fps on the ground, again this is default scenery so I think that with my system I must be getting around average performance.

Being new to FSX I am probably trying to compare FSX with FS9 performance and FSX is a whole new ball game I guess. *-)

I probably maybe expecting too much too soon and will have to keep trying different setups as I did over the week-end.

Regards
Nigel
