Eddie.. have you ever flown yours with the gear off??
I did consider it mate. Never actually tried it though. :)

The prop is very fragile and the gear keeps it sitting up and out of trouble when it touches down.

Although you could power off keeping the prop stationary and land without the wheels if you fancied it. B-)

Anyway, Hope you had a good day mate.

I don't think she'd go for that much mate  I can always try though ;)

Typically, I've just been up a ladder to change a lamp in one of my outside lights and there's not a single breath of wind :( By the look of the black clouds heading our way.. today will be the last flying opportunity for some days :'(

Thanks for that Eddie (just popped in as I posted). I did make sure all of my.. err.. landings were with the pwr off. Just wish it'd have been as calm this morning as it is now. Unfortunately, I'd need nav lights and bcns to be able to see it now

Best wishes on your Birthday, Dave
Glad youve finally sampled the delights of "real" flying., It gets better when the model goes where you want it rather than where you dont
 Have a good un

Aren't you lucky. Up here, it's been blowing a hooligan and with sleet :help:

Many Happy Returns, Dave, and best wishes for the future. If you do decide to fly with the gear off, it might be wise to stay well clear of the prop when you're starting it *-)

Cheers guy's..

A new day and I'm a day older

George.. the wind and snow have finally arrived (had arrived) but it didn't stick and it's just bloody windy, cold and miserable now :( Fortunately, this didn't come until early morning so we were able to walk up to the club for a few jars last night :guinn:

Mike.. I can't takeoff from the ground anyway mate as the surface is too rough.. my daughter had to do the launch procedure (which took us both a bit of getting used to) :wasntme: The Champ has so much lift and even the tiny breeze we had yesterday was enough for it to go vertical after she'd let go but I learned to counter this by adding a little 'down' elevator ;)

Dale.. yes mate.. I'm chuffed to bits with the model AND the life of the batteries which was a lot better than I expected. I was careful not to let them get low and none of the 3 I used took very long to recharge. I had around an hour from 3 batteries (though this wasn't all flying you'll understand.. much of it was taken by my daughter running miles to retrieve it) When the breeze dropped.. it was a lot of fun to fly and I found I could control it reasonably well.. at one point keeping it at just above zero knots facing into what reduced wind there was  On the other hand.. when the breeze picked up.. it climbed on it's own.. turned round and was off at an alarming rate with the wind and me unable to control it. That wasn't fun at all :( I thanked my lucky stars I didn't have Eddies Wildcat!! Looking forward very much to the next 'gap' in the weather ;)

You could build a mini HMS Invincible with a rubber band launcher.

(Make it so number 1) ;)

All the best to you and yours Dave :)

Cheers Joe  A 'mini' HMS Invincible to the same scale as the Champ wouldn't be very 'mini' though!
