just a thought as i have been in the fuel hauling game. the photo looks like the trailer is a fuel pup. the main vehicle would not have enough fuel within it's own tanks, thus draws from the pup as a secondary unit.
another idea could be the main unit has jetA1 and the pup could have avgas for the DC3's and such ?

Yes mate.. that's what we've been assuming. My original reply to CT was taken from info received from one of the 'younger' members of the Vanguard team (he'll love me for that ) who presumed, as we did, that the trailer contained oil. However, one of the 'slightly older' crew members who was at LAP at and before that shot was taken concluded it was carrying fuel saying that the tankers would fuel everything from Dak's to Super Connies so bowser capacity may not have been there without the trailer. I've searched all over the shop today to try and find how much fuel a bowser like that carries but without success

Of note, the fuel truck in the second picture at Jersey looks much more like a combo AvGas-Jet Combo tanker, towing the large fuel tanker behind with the Jet-A and AvGas tank on the truck.

Not sure about the beer in the trailer - unfortunately that aircraft was the one that crashed on Stockport due to leakage between the aux/main tank transfer cocks that could be badly adjusted - it was a known fault but never reported between companies. My father knew of the problem, but apparently my uncle (or his engineers) did not. This accident started the inter-company/CAA confidential reporting system, I believe.
(My uncle was MD of BMA at the time & even more of a co-incidence was visiting me in Crowthorne at the time of the crash!!!)
