Frank,
I have thought about eliminating the RH pilot in external view, but so far not implimented it. As I need to do an update for better HD gauges and correct some mapping for camo repaints, on your suggestion I will do so. Keep an eye open for an-(other) update!
As for the crew wearing a bone dome I have a contempory photo of a RAF pilot in a cockpit, admittedly not wearing it, but it is sitting on the glareshield. My bone dome pilots are wearing my interpretation of a Mk1 bone dome.
As for the oxygen mask he would wear one because of the necessity of using the microphone, most RAF crew did not use the throat mic & flying that beast with a contempory hand held mic would not be a good idea. Boom mics as far as I'm aware were not used back in the 50's & 60's.

Hi Keith

How about an empty seat by default but still there to appear if anyone wants him *-)

Keith: thank you so much for having taken into consideration my desires on Provost. You are very kind . I flew yesterday for a couple of hour and is perfect ! I wonder why RAF School advanced planeS did not have an ADF, at least. It was a RAF choice to relegate navigation exercises on Varsities etc. , may be ?
I am surprised of the easy stall characteristics of the Provost. She sinks flat instead of falling by nose or put down a wing (like the Prentice).
I think that "pilots" from other model planes cannot be utilised for copyright stuff:) I remember the pilots used in RP Chipmunk, as the best ones around, years back.

I look forward to the next update!

Thank You again

Frank

Frank & Garry,
I have a modification under test at Britsim that corrects the mapping from the VC that is only seen with a Camo repaint, but during this excercise I have managed after a fashion to make the external view match the VC with regards to the 2 nd dickie being seen or not. Its not perfect but a blind man would be glad to see it , as they say.It uses the Wingfold command & the Tailhook command.
If acceptable to the Britsim Beta testers it will be made available together with the HD gauge update.
Will keep you posted.
The Provost as originally supplied to the RAF had a 10 Ch VHF & what was called a TBA radio. I gather that TBA stood for Tunable Bearing Approach but quite how it worked I don't know. It seems that it was very quickly removed & a later 45 ch VHF installed. It was after all a circuit basher & aerobatic trainer, so no long distance stuff requiring fancy nav aids. In those days it was usually 'Bradshaw' navigation anyway!

TBA radio?

During WW2 the USN developed a sound powered short range radio called a TBS radio, in that case 'TBS' stood for 'Talk Betwen Ships'. Could the Provost radio have worked on the same principle with, in the Provost case, the 'TBA' standing for 'Talk Between Aircraft'?

The TBS radio operated in the 60-80MHz frequency range and was a RCA Victor VHF MCW/RT transmitter/receiver used by the U.S. Navy for short-range voice radio telephony to Talk Between Ships.
Can't say I've any knowledge of the R.A.F. using that frequency range around the time of the Provosts especially because most of that band was used here for T.V. broadcasting at that time - if my memory still works :worried: .
Cheers

A new updated version V2.0 has been uploaded to www.britsim.com this corrects some of the texture mapping when using camo repaints when viewed from the VC, the RH pilot can now be removed from both the external view & the VC, the Provost Notes have been updated & corrected & finally there are higher definition gauges in the VC.
