TBH I don't see how you can...it would fall apart and in anycase it would be far too heavy :dunno:

Maybe they just grabbed the head with the pound coins and scarpered.

dodger wrote:Hello,

I thought so Nigel :) i live about 6 miles from Chatham across the river medway and although i have never considered myself a cockney i'm afraid people tend to think i am,

I used to live in Devon many years ago but have lost most of my west counry accent, a few words still come out now and again!, i hate the way i speak sometimes the wife says its not to late to speak proper! but i think it is at 69 yrs, but anyway my old cock you got the accent abart right

Nice to talk to you Nigel,

Cheers,

Roger.
Roger, you can't be a cockney - earshot of Bow Bells and all that, although that legend is probably stretched a bit since the Germans bombed St May-le-Bow church in 1941 and it was'nt until 1956 that it was rebuilt with new bells. So according to the legend, no cockneys were born between those years. I was born in Hampstead, so I can't claim to be cockney. Dick Whitington supposedly heard the bells from Highgate though. I have done some family tree research and a lot of my ancestors were either cockney, or on the other side, from Lancashire. Yikes, that makes me half a *#@#$! northerner I suppose. Your wife sounds a bit like my mother. Despite coming from Liverpool, she would always criticize my speech when I would dop "H's" and "T's." A female version of 'enry 'iggins she was. Ok, enough nonsense! :agree:

Oh, I do! That was a joke, I used to tease Mum about being a Northerner. So far I have traced back to around 1840. I also have some ancestors from ...Ay-up .... Yorkshire! *-) I wonder if I go back far enough if I might find they fought in the War of the Roses!

Rick - Dick Van Dyke's Cockney accent was terrible IMHO!
