The discussion on Elgar and 'Nimrod' plus anecdotes has for me been most enjoyable and informative but perhaps this digression from FS should now end before we are accused of stretching the forum administrators' goodwill far too far. Nevertheless both Elgar and much of his music together with those wonderful conductors are truly British Classics.

Yes, I agree. Anything further should be posted in Escorts and Stewards. Aplogies for anyone that had to slug through all the music stuff!

Don't worry about that Nigel
If a thread doesn't go off topic after about four posts we'd start to worry

Thanks, Gary. No worries then, I managed to get this one nicely off topic.

Just to maintain the 'off topic' scenerio...

'Nimrod' is also my favorite classical piece. On the CD I have with it on, conducted by Barry Tuckwell of the London symph. orch. in 1988, it is 4.26...slower than other versions I've heard, but the best tempo in my opinion.

Yes but hang on a minute, what are they gonna do with the MRA4s that are already finished? Couldn't we jointly operate them with, say, France, Germany, etc?

Well to compound the stupidity BAe are still working on the MRA4's because they have already been paid for them. Also - Yes the French have already said that they would like them very very much.

TBH I can't see why they can't use them anyway.
Even if they are falling short on spec it's better than nothing
