Re: Upgrade for Leading Edge...
When HS replaced the droopers of the Trident 1C with the slats of the 1E did that count as an upgrade for leading edge ?

Re: Upgrade for Leading Edge...
This may sound like a daft question, but I thought you had to match the memory to make full use of the bus speed. Does having mixed size dimms not slow it down?
Ben.

I've been toying with the idea of replacing my 9800GTX with a GTX285. I don't think Ill be able to resist for much longer as my current card is starting to struggle with some new games at the resolution I play at. Just a quick question just how big is the card really? I have a Coolermaster ATC-201 that is a truly magnificent case, but was designed for year 2000 hardwareMy current card is already rather a tight fit...
If you look at pics 11, 12, 13, and 14 then you will see that the end section of the card projects over the edge of the standard size ATX Mobo (ignore that big hande because you can unbolt it with two thumbscrews). That end section (without the handle) projects into my Hard Drives Chassis. This obliged me to fit one TB hard drive instead of two drives and that one drive has to go in on its side, rather than flat. The card is just clear of the hard drive by about a quarter inch. I find the 1 TB hard drive is booting and loading everything very much faster than my old RAID 0 setup with two drives. I have my old full FS9 installation using the original folders (having renamed the Flight Simulator 9 folder, done a fresh minimal FS9 install to get it into the registry and then immediately deleted the fresh install and renamed the old folder back again). It takes a tiny fraction of the time it took before to fully load into a selected flight at McLeland Field...FSNav was completely unaffected but I'm having to reinstall the Dreamfleet stuff. Little Bandit is working fine now in both the wheeled and floats versions
So if you look at your mobo then see what is next to the edge of it...The card will project half an inch past that edge of the mobo.

Re: Upgrade for Leading Edge...
You have to match speed-wise. Matching slower with faster, defaults to the slower .... the amount of GB's on each block doesn't matter, other than they should be paired in size for good matters ...

Re: Upgrade for Leading Edge...
work on 27cm for size of card....plus you need one 6 pin PCI-E and one 8 pin PCI-E power leads..
Dan by going to ATI you will lose your beloved nHancer
Also check out the brand new ATI 5770 cards going for about the same price as a GTX260 £130 similar performance but the advantage is you can run three monitors....typical I just bought a 260 and have a spare monitor

Re: Upgrade for Leading Edge...
Getting things re-installed is a bit of a pain, but I have "Little Bandit" working again with everything singing and dancing

Here is a little video I did today at Harlequin Lake...
http://www.petermcleland.com/video/LBfloatRestored.wmv
Sadly my site is a bit slow tonight and it takes about 15 mins to download for 3 and a bit mins playing time...Might be better to try it tomorrow
Hmmm...Just downloaded it again this morning and it poured down in one minute at about 400 KB/sec

I thought that chunk of ice on landing was a bit close! I am sure I would have managed to hit it.
BTW - only took about 50 seconds to download!
