Reference the prop shape, you can make it more circular by playing around with the texture. Basically play around with the alpha channel so that the central circle of prop is whatever transparency is appropriate (i.e. the level it is now) and have the are outside that circle completely transparent (pure black or white, can't remember which it is).
This gets around the problem of getting something to look circular by using lots of polygons, you could pretty much use a square this way.
