I'll have re-double by efforts to catch them then Dave. Unfortunately this year I'm having zero luck seeing any of the displays :doho: so I'm relying on you chaps ! Closest I can get to the Aerostars is watching this on the iPod.

Very nice photos. I could have gone to Farnborough for six days in the Auster Mk.6 (nose just in shot in one of the Auster photos), but I'm not really an airshow person (havent been to one for years) so declined on the offer.

Nice to see the Chrislea Super Ace too. We took the sole surviving Chrislea SkyJeep to Popham a few weeks ago for a family celebration for the owner of the companys Brother who was instrumental in developing the two designs. Besides us on the day was the Super Ace seen here. The old boy was so pleased to see both sitting there on the grass and was the first time in over 45 years that we had seen the two types.

As to the Aerostars, I went to Popham yesterday for the Auster Fly-In in the Mk.III and noticed them forming up to the east with the Fiat G.46 (didnt know what it was as was so far away until read a thread in the FlyPast forum). Suppose they were on their way into Farnborough?

G-FUNK used to be owned by David Gilmour's Intrepid Aviation Company, when I was a hangar rat with the same organisation.

Looks like 'MZ might have been a LHR regular perhaps... they usually had four based there at any one time.

The 510 for those that think all were LHR based, were Manchester based and the 400 & 539 Birmingham.

Some of the Manchester fleet were based on rotation in Germany for a few years

I flew MZ exclusively in Germany Gary...Templehof to all the German Internals destinations and back.

No Garry...Not really certain of course but I don't think any aeroplane that I flew is still airworthy

Yes Garry, it is about to close forever...I feel sad about it as Templehof was rather a unique airport with its massive overhang...I often used to walk out past the end of the PanAm line and on to our BEA line with the inner ends of both lines underneath that roof!

I flew the German Internals for my last 18 months as a First Officer. Then got my Command back on the Vanguard/Merchantman based at Heathrow.
