Hi Henk

you read the readme of course (you didn't !)

and you temporarily turned off UAC in Vista didn't you ? as the installer instructed you to do

whats the other one ?
ah yes you used your supplied reg number in the activation number fields or you didn't put the name as USER in upper case

Any of these ? might get you going as a couple have had problems with these bits :$

Rick

My activation is being a little tempremental. The first time I loaded it up, most definitely after activating it, it still gave me that banner at the top. I fired up the sim a little later, and it was fine then, but now the banner has found its way back to the top of my screen! If I try to reactivate it with the activate.exe, I just get some error with the registry.

Gah!

(Windows XP, not Vista, by the way)

Hi Tweek have you rebooted since installing the hawk ?.

might be worth a try if you haven't.

Henk are you 100% sure

USER in caps is the name you entered
your using the Reg number for the reg boxes
the activation numbers for the activation boxes

a few people are acrually entering the reg number for the activation & vice versa which does not work.

and a couple have not run the activator at all

What is the message at the end Henk as it sounds very odd to me ?.

Regards
Rick

Sure have rebooted. I've reinstalled all my ATI software since, due to some issues with my control centre, but I can't see why that would have affected it. I suppose if I could isolate the registry entry that it mentions, could I delete that so I could reactivate?

Hi Tweek

I didn't tell you to reinstall your ATI drivers or anything i just said reboot your PC.

:dunno:

it looks like i am left here to try and fix this as it also seems Gordon has packed up and gone home.
it was deemed by those above me that i was not to be given direct access to anything useful in helping today go smoothly.
it's not been a good day for me as it seems my attempt to please as many as possible has been destroyed by problems beyond my control

Regards
Rick

Sorry, you've misunderstood. I did that much earlier, due to totally unrelated issues. ;-)

But don't worry, there's nothing at all wrong with your part in all this - the Hawk itself. First impressions show it to be a very fine model indeed (totally expected of course), I've just not been able to enjoy it for more than a few minutes! I'm sure these are problems beyond your control. ;-)
