Re: New updates...
Well.. mention of constant reboots on some AMD systems is enough for me to be glad I 'hit the wrong button' (even though I appear to have done it on 2 separate systems) My systems are kept uptodate with all system and security updates so I'll remain happy with that ;-)

Re: New updates...
well just installed nHancer, it found multiple profiles for fs2004, odd as I did not have nHancer before?? anyway also noiticed it sitting in my tray so it is running all the time, also unistalled it then reinstalled it and low and behold I do not find FS2004 at all in the list...seems more bloody trouble than its worth, just of late I am getting more and more grumpy with FS either I have graphic problems or its something else.. in fact its days like this when I think :@ it, and realise theres more to my life than p1ssing about trying to get a pc working.. might just give the bloody lot up as a bad joke.. I am really grumpy now, in fact I am off to find the neighbours cat to rearrange that parting on its arse with my boot :@

Re: New updates...
Tony you should just let it be, never mind the multiple profiles etc. Just install it and forget it...

Re: New updates...
Just had a look through the nHancer online help and it says that once it's run and found the installed games it sets up an optimum profile, using the nVidia driver, with reference to the executable file (e.g. fs9.exe). When the registry sees fs9.exe run it automatically selects that profile. So nHancer doesn't need to run in the background at all as it is the nVidia driver that handles the profile. You can uncheck the option for running nHancer at startup or as a tray icon and just fire it up if you want to change the profile.DanKH wrote:Tony you should just let it be, never mind the multiple profiles etc. Just install it and forget it...
Dan will correct me if I've over-simplified!

Re: New updates...
Be corrected, as it need to run in the background to keep an eye on which programs you're currently running ;-)
Otherwise, yes ;-)

Re: New updates...
I've been experimenting to see how much of an improvement I'm getting from nHancer. This is isn't scientific because I didn't do this before I ran nHancer but it has made a noticeable improvement on a set-up that I was quite happy with anyway. I decided to push all the sliders up to maximum and run a 3D cockpit with real world weather and see what happened. Incredibly, I still get reasonable frame rates in the vicinity of 100% AI traffic. This is default LHR scenery in FS9 but I still think it's a good performance for a laptop. Here's the evidence!

So once again - thank you, Dan for letting me know about it. Got any more of these gems up your sleeve?
EDIT: Just missed your answer to the previous post. Thanks for that correction

Re: New updates...
I just foolishly installed SP3 and I have an AMD/HP setup Needless to say, I ended up having to do a format and reinstall so I AM NOT AMUSED
:@
Yes, I should have perhaps looked around first, but I only followed the Windows update recommendation - needless to say, it is now disabled.
Coudn't even check from the second machine, as we have a network, and this is the 'main' machine. as soon as it started the continual reboot that was it - and mysteriously asking me for a PW when I attempted to boot from setup!!!
Thank heavens for extra drives, but I am dreading the days and weeks it'll take to get the system back up as was.
Cheers Gates - for yet another monumental foul up. Ditto HP for their shoddy, lazy imaging, ...
Better stop before I start getting worse.....
