Re: FS9 Odd Texture Issue...???
Peter it looks like I am having areturn to the dreaded blurries...not as bad as before but after a few seconds they pop back into focus so thats ok but they seem to be blurred a short way from the aircraft and they rarely pop back into focus I only havea small radius of sharp textures? I reload the textures and it works for a bit but goes again.. would this fit in with one rogue DXT1 texture? or would that only be where a scenery is placed.. my UK Scenery airports are sharp as a button even in the distance whilst all around is blurred to heck

On my system bad blurries like that would occur ANYWHERE that I took a Hunter or where an AI version of the Hunter appeared as Traffic. I fixed this by making all the Hunter textures DXT3 and MIPPED. I don't know what it is about the Hunter because I do have aircraft with unmipped textures and they don't cause this problem. On slight disadvantage that remains with the mipped Hunter is that in Spot View at a certain distance the AIRCRAFT, not the scenery goes blurred but this can be fixed by Zooming in close with the + key...It then goes sharp and remains sharp when you zoom back to normal with the Backspace key.
The Scenery texture unmipped DXT1 rogue texture will cause blurries only in that scenery area and with ANY aircraft.
I hope this answers your question Tony...BTW ALL Daves Hunters caused that SCENERY blurring problem on my system, the two seaters as well...They ALL now have mipped textures and I can have ALL nine AI versions of the two seaters visible at once and get no blurring...Whereas, just ONE unmipped Hunter used as a Gate Guard would BLUR the scenery the moment it came into the field of view

Re: FS9 Odd Texture Issue...???
yes Peter I had heard of this with un mipped models, however as most of my repaints and the ones I download do not have mipps it seems odd that they all do not suffer the same?

Re: FS9 Odd Texture Issue...???
Yes indeed...That is why I mentioned that the Hunter was the main offender in that respect...I have plenty of unmipped aircraft that do NOT blur the scenery, but the Hunter when unmipped certainly doestonymadge wrote:yes Peter I had heard of this with un mipped models, however as most of my repaints and the ones I download do not have mipps it seems odd that they all do not suffer the same?

The only thing I never did check in the original Hunter was if it had an odd DXT1 unmipped but it too late to check now as I've mipped ALL its textures...Maybe I'll see if I have an archive file I can check.
The other possibility with the Hunter might be those different versions of DXTbmp that were discussed previously

Re: FS9 Odd Texture Issue...???
O.K. ...I'm pretty sure that I have found the problem with the Hunters...There are MANY DXT1 textures in there and they are not mipped...All that is required, I'm pretty sure, is to call up just the DXT1 textures in ImageTool...Check that it shows as DXT1 under Image...Click Create MipMaps...Finally under File, click Save.
You can leave all the other textures as 32 bit if you wish and your machine can cope with them but I have converted them to DXT3 under Image > Format > DXT3 and then File > Save. All the 32 bit or DXT3 Textures can be left UNMIPPED as it was the DXT1s that were causing the blurries.
I'm just going to check with Echo and I'm confident that there will be no Blurries and further more, now that the main large textures are no longer mipped, they will stay sharp in Spot View
EDIT...OK that is checked...All that is required to fix the Hunter blurries is to MIP all the DXT1 textures :flying:
