Truth be told, I joined the RAF when I was 17 and had numerous problems in Basic, problems with my health which no doctor had picked up before and also an incident (not invloving me!) which messed a few of us up. Hence a bit of reluctance to join again.
I do not want to be a voice of doom, but this bit above may hinder things. HM forces are not good at giving people a second chance if they fall (for whatever reason) at an early hurdle. The record of this will show up to the AAC, not just the RAF I am afraid.

That's really no problem. The AFCO seem more than happy to oblige which is a bonus really.

Oh, I did not realise he had been in the RAF as trainee officer, if that is the case the Army will be shouting at him an awfull lot more as a junior squaddie. Still that never really hurt anybody.
