Allan do you have "Show Hidden files and folders " in the folder options? And does the graphics problem happen with all aircraft? and all scenery?
It should be in your docs and settings/applications/microsoft/games/FSX folder mate.......Any probs PM me and i will give you the full listing..

Finally gave up the fight today and did a reinstal of FS9 having done just about everything except offer up a sacrifice of mother in law. Perhaps thats where I went wrong????

Everything seems to be working tickety-boo at the moment so fingers crossed. Original fault possibly a power surge at the wrong moment? Who knows. The power supply in this village is about as reliable as a politicians promise, we are seriously looking at buying a generator to tied us over the annual outages that occur over winter here.

Anyway, many thanks to Techy for spending a lot of his time trying to get to the bottom of the problem.

Just to let you all know that an original suggestion by Techy that I may have had a Trojan in my system when I had my problems with FS9 could have been right on the mark.

Today I set up a 100% virus check and AVG came up with 11 infections of what it calls 'Trojan Horse Agent.IOH'. The infected files were in; Malev Tu-154B2 and Pf3k Lockheed l-1011 on all 3 HDs on my system.

Sanetised, files gone, HD defragged, washed my hands and even wiped over the mouse (you can't be too careful).

The question is how did it get there? All my files are downloaded into a 'sheep dip' where they are scanned before being allowed out so I don't know what went wrong. Additionally I have daily surface scans and weekly 100% deep scans. Great hobby eh, always something to keep us wondering....

Anyway, thought you would like to know. At the mo everything is working fine................

A few folk on here have been caught out by AVG recently... basicly... its not all that... not bad for free, but not that good. If your looking for a freware antivirus, the program of choice seems to be AVAST at the minute (although I don't use it myself, seems to be the word on the street.) Personally, I think folk who trust their PC's to something thats given away free need there heads looked at... I give you that £30 per year, (seems to be the average for payware AV) ain't cheap, but I've never had a virus infection yet. (Just avoid Norton )

Just out of curiosity where did you download the infected files from?

Hmmm good argument there Allan but did you know that AVG beat all the "payware" virus guards in a recent test at PC Format?

Hi Tony,

I'm just passing on info from the real world... If Charlie Bravo is about too he'll happily tell you about it. If someone had a product that was that good, why wouldn't they try and make some cash out of it, maybe I'm just getting old and synical.

I'll happily pay for my AV, and happily not have to worry about viruses.

Still doesn't explain how they got through the net though... It might be where they were downloaded from?

Yeah that is the strange point isn't it? Buggyman has all those protections in place.....? But you know how clever trojans are...they can attach just about anywhere.

PC Format went down the pan many years ago, it used to be an enthusiasts mag but when it went mainstream the reviews seemed to be a bit.... off. Incidentally that was about the same time they took the sexy women off the cover and replaced them with PC bits....

While it does not appear to be the case in your situation, it is good to be aware that sometimes you can get a false positive with a virus scanner. There is a site available to check any files for virus infections online - good for a "second opinion".
