I hate days like this. I saw the P-38 and Firefly accidents at Duxford, and whenever I read of another one happening, I get the same sick feeling. God bless him, whoever he was.

I've withdrawn the second photo, as I'm not sure this was the pilot involved.
This is always a problem with old warbirds Kevin as they do tend to get flown by whoever is available. That said, the chap flying the Hurricane at Duxford wears very distinctive headgear and enlarging Pete's phot, they would appear to be one and the same. Not conclusive by any means though.

The pilot has been named in the press as Brian Brown, who IIRC was general manager at Breighton/RACo, the previous operators of the Hurricane. It appears he continued to fly the aircraft in its new ownership.

Hi All
I was at Shoreham too and there was disbelief amongst the folks around me at the sight of the Hurri going down. Very sad and you knew immediately that the pilot had no chance. Fine tribute given as some of the spitfires flew past in missing man formation before ATC got them down on the ground pronto.
I believe today's show was going to continue in memory of the pilot.
Highlights from the day were the extra and acrobatic glider, the Mitchell from Holland, the Blades and a remarkable show from the Typhoon.
Everyone's thoughts were with the family and friends of the pilot.
