Gents,
I've just come across this thread and I hope one of you may have some ideas to help me with a similar graphics card issue...
About 4 months ago I bought a nVidia 7600GS card to upgrade my system from the GeForce4 MX440 that was in it before (and is again now!). Both cards are AGP.
When I installed the new card it ran fine for any normal applications but when I started FS9 it would run for between 1 and 10 minutes then the system would just reboot without warning... :o
I tried a number of different configs, stopping all unnecessary programs etc, disconnected from T'internet but all to no avail. I wondered if it was a PSU problem so I bought and installed a Tagan TG480-U01 PSU but this didn't help. I also wondered if it was overheating but the new PSU has a double fan and I also added a PCI slot fan within the case to assist. Still no joy :-(
So I've gone back to my old card and the 7600GS is sitting on the shelf gathering dust, no idea if it's something silly I'm missing
If someone has an idea on this please let me know as for the few minutes that the card ran FS9 it was superb... :flying:
My system specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+, 1 GB RAM, Windows 2000 Professional, DirectX 9.0c
Cheers!

Hi Dom
My Guess is your power supply is not powerfull enough.
But not sure if the 7600 needs external power like the other powerfull cards.
Regards
Rick

I'd agree with Rick, the Tagan should have enough kick, are you sure you have the extra power connector correctly attached to the card?

Hi Dom.
I think Rick is spot on. I'm betting your 7600GS is similar to my 7600GT in that it needs 2 periphal power connectors (Molex) from the power supply to drive it. That's one hell of a power hit. My 450w unit is flagging so I've just ordered a 600w replacement. Your unit is 480w rated I believe so it's the most likely source of your problem.

Blimey ! I thought the new PSU would be enough after reading through some home build sites :o
But that makes sense so I guess I'll have to prise the lid off my wallet again... And the concrete's only just dried since I last opened it
Thanks for the advice ;-)
