The one thing we do seem to have a lot of is wind Larry  It's usually accompanied by rain though :(

George.. I wish you'd not sent that link! My fave on that page is also the cheapest at £631.76.. the Alouette II. I am not a number.. I am a free man! I'd have to put floats on it though  I also love the Gazelle too but at £1574.74.. I love my gonads more  What excellent models
The met office forecast wasn't bad. It was nice and bright earlier though a tad too windy for the Champ.

I have a Vario Skyfox which I started to put in a Huey body about 10 years ago but never finished it.

In fact, I haven't flown for about 8 years, we lost our flying field to the housing developers :|

Ee-gads George.. you really would need a field to fly something of that size :-O

Just had a look online and it seems the Vario kits, while expensive are highly regarded. Pity you never finished the Huey body :(

Finally after weeks of waiting. I got the conditions I had been waiting for this afternoon. :excited:

Seized the opportunity with both hands and headed up onto the hills. :)

Spent about 45 minutes flying. Used hardly any battery whatsoever.

Just used the motor to gain height and then glided and floated around with HD camera fixed on. :agree:

Takes a little getting used to but absolutely wonderful to fly. The climb rate is astonishing. :-O :-O

Here you go chaps. Hot off the press. B)smk

That's brilliant mate :welldone: What a wicked tool

Weren't you worried it was going to sod off at that altitude? I couldn't believe how high it got in such a short space of time! Love the way the prop folds back to cut drag. ;)

Took the Champ out this morning but it was marginal. Got a couple of batteries worth before I called it a day. I think this afternoon would have been better but I've been stuck copying HD's to an external so the pc can be retired.

Thanks for posting. Looking forward to many more

I want one of these now too

Hi guys

Here's a video from this afternoon. :)

This is an absolute joy to fly. It's just so relaxing watching it float.

I was distracted slightly by an Emirates A380 flying into Manchester.

Tried to get the thing on the camera a few times. :)

Nicely done Ed

I wondered if you were in pursuit of the Scarebus at one point

It's been raining here all afternoon and it was too windy this morning. It doesn't look like the Radian is that fussed by wind? Seems very stable in flight.

I'd love to get it that high mate.

At the moment I'm trying to establish the effective range for the Tx and Rx I have. Does'nt say a lot in the manual. *-)

They are decent spec but I'm keen to know the limits so I can stay well away from them!

It does cope with light winds but anything thats pushing towards a fresh would have an impact on the handling.

The weather here got worse as the day went on. :((

Dunno what it was like up your end Ed but it's been grand here tonight. I tried this afternoon (calm in the street but too windy as soon as I walked around the corner) but gave up before the first battery had died. Looked out this evening around 8pm and it was as calm as a calm thing. Bloody cold though but who cares. A full 4 batteries worth  As it was so quiet out (it generally is here anyway at this time).. being calm as it was, I've even been taking off and landing on the road next to the common.. first time I've landed on tarmac :-O Great fun mate ;) There was just enough wind at around 90-100ft.. I was able to use very little throttle so I got close to an hour 'out' with all 4 batteries. I did panic it wasn't going to come down once.. it seemed such a tiny yellow dot in the sky

In fact it's so calm here at the moment, I've even had the mini helicopter out on the back garden. Can't get enough!

Hi mate

I did venture out for a couple of flights in the morning with the wildcat. The winds were light and heading towards fresh and gusting so I brought her in early to avoid any damage. :)

Teatime was better, only marginally though. Took the Radian up for 20 minutes or so. Again it was gusting slightly which makes the landings tricky. :tunes:

Still had fun. Looking forward to the first proper calm and warm day of the year. Probably be sometime around August 2034.
