The Group is easy... only master bombers or pathfinders had coloured tails, and from 1943 were all part of 8 Group... just a matter of whittling down the squadrons now.

Cavalier Turbo Mustang III/ Enforcer, as the engine looks like a Rolls-Royce Dart to me.

I am still drawing blanks. I was thinking its a twin engine, but its definitely military but have not found anything with the right engine shape and a large enough wing tank.

Piper PA-48 Enforcer

99% Allan, but on a technicality, Kevin's suggestion was a tad more correct, as the source says it's the Cavalier version with RR Dart, whereas the Piper PA 48, was powered by a Lycoming turbojet., So I think Kevin gets there by a very thin whisker.
Both top notch posts, as I couldn't tell the RR from the Lycoming, myself. :dunno:EDIT, however, now I see that there's a slight difference; see close up of Lycoming, which appears to have a little scoop, absent on the RR:

It's the small inlet at the twelve O'clock position on the engine leading edge that screams RR Dart to me (in much the same way as the Dart screams it's shrill whine when idling or taxiing - I miss that sound!). I spent far too much time plane spotting at Birmingham Airport (BHX/EGBB), when I was younger. Viscounts, HS748, F27's, HP Herald and Gulfstream 1's were common, so I became familiar with the look of the RR Dart.

I'll wear my badge with pride, but feel a a part share with Allan would be fair as he really was so close.

I thought it was a Dart also but that's as far as I got. Unfortunately I also thought I was looking for a twin and drew many many many blanks.
