A Supermarine 508 or thereabouts. Not common as muck these little tinkers

Yep, prototype Scimitar I believe.

I've been going through some of the diagrams and some have "CALE" marked on the a location at the North Eastern end, but I can't for the life of me think what it means. There's also SB & AG proving base, AG being Arrestor Gear, but not sure about the SB. Anyone any ideas?

Brief update tonight. I've been experimenting with using arrestor cables to one of the runways using MCX, without success. A quick post over at FSDevelopers and I've a few things to try, and its believed it should work. Furthermore the cats should work too but, it might be easier on the raised deck than on the flush one... Time will tell. I'll let you know how I get on over the weekend.

I wish I could give you a pointer as to what SB might be. Not really had a chance to think about it :( I have a book 'Farnborough and the Fleet Air Arm' which I've not looked through in a while and may hold a clue *-)

I'm thinking SB might be something Barrier :dunno:

No idea on Cale, but something to do with jet deflectors fitted to carriers possibly from looking at some of the '96 pics, but difficult to tell.

I know that the northern side was NAD (Naval Air Department) but not sure if they had an HMS. I think it was under Naval command in the early days at least. The Navy had all sorts on the cats, from scimitars to Sea Vixens, to Phantoms, and most in between. Even the French used it for their Naval Jag and a few others.

I think I can animate the platform for the helos too, you can effectively to a type of stop frame animation in Sketchup, but it looks a bit messy, I may try Max again, but I'll probably need some assistance to do it. :worried:
