If they're AI traffic routes, it looks like two formations following different routes that have a start/finish point in the same location. As far as I know from reading the SDK and a few 'incidents' AI shipping traffic cares not for collision avoidance, I actually had a crash once as a sailing ship decided to cruise through the Vic while I was sat on deck, the mast hit me!
Not 100% sure if that applies to shipping following routes as the yacht was autogen traffic that appears pseudo-randomly near coastlines etc. I should probably set up a couple of traffic routes to find out!

Hmm.. interesting *-)

As posted elsewhere (Victorious and KG5).. I steamed up alongside Victorious in KG5 (Vic setup on the traffic file that came with the model) to do a series of screenies while admiring both models  I eventually overhauled the Vic but stayed on the same heading. Did a bit more goofing then decided to slow KG5 down so that Vic would pass down the stbd side. I sat there waiting then realised Vic had slowed too :-O I got the KG5 stokers to shovel some more coal and as soon as a bow wave appeard.. a bow wave appeared on Vic and she started following/resumed her track!
Might it be something to do with having crash detection on/off?? No, perhaps not *-) I'm thinking that while sat at an airport in a queue for takeoff.. AI aircraft behind will move up and stay with you.. at a prescribed distance. This isn't autogen traffic though so perhaps the same rules do not apply.

I have aicarriers installed, but haven't meddled with anything. I took off from Lee on Solent, and saw the carrier heading up Spithead. I then noticed another carrier coming in, which appeared to be on a collision course, so I stuck around to watch.

They met off Bembridge. The evasive action by the escorts was a wonder to behold, and as far as I could see, there was only one collision.

Hi Dennis..

Is that the 'single' Nimitz pack off Flightsim.com? I believed it to be the same one available at FSShipyards but.. without the other versions and WITH a traffic file.. something not included in the multipack. Things shouldn't be this difficult should they *-)

Javier's Nimitz is an amazing piece of work there is no doubt about it. I am still discovering nice little touches all over it.

I did jump out of my skin the other day when I managed to trap on here with Dino's Goshawk, left it running on the deck as I went to go and make a cuppa... and then a sound file kicked in with a deck announcement from Flyco... The update with the RAS is great too for some helicopter work.

As far as I know Dave, they are identical ai carrier groups. One carrier with two escorts. The incoming carrier held course, while the departing one took evasive action. The escorts went every which way. Shades of The Navy Lark. "Left hand down a bit" "NO! Right hand down a bit" "Up a bit" "Left a bit" "Right a bit"

I have to admit, that's what I thought when I saw those shots  I'll look at the 'single' at FSCom which I know comes with a traffic file for Nimitz circling the IoW (or thereabouts) ;)

EDIT.. found the file that adds Nimitz to the IoW.. aicarri1.zip. It doesn't come with either of the Nimitz packages.

It was a mission to install the Ark Royal but worth the hassle. Any body else have problems with installing the Ark Royal for FS2004?

Hi AD..

Yes matey.. it worked just fine for some (me included) but didn't for others. No real reason for it as far as I can tell. For one chap here, I literally sent him my Ark as installed on my pc so that I knew for sure all the files were in the correct place and it still didn't work :(

Glad you made the effort. She's a fine ship ;)

Its a cool ship to have. Looks good and makes a change from the normal airports that I like to land at.

I'm going to try and land a Hawker Hunter on it later on today.
