You got that new model up yet matey??

Snuck out for a full 2 batteries worth of very light breeze.. almost completely calm just before the rain came tonight. I need to get lights on the Champ  First flight was a bit odd.. very little LH rudder authority and scary as it was heading for trees :-O Got it onto the deck and caught up to find the repair had 'slackened off'! A quick press on the tape and she was up and running again  Isn't it fun when the model goes where you want it to

Hi mate,

No such luck with the weather here. Its so unsettled.

Calm and sunny this afternoon followed minutes later by gusts and hailstones.

I dare'nt risk it. As much as I'm chomping at the bit to fly it, I'll have to be patient. :((

Good to hear the Champ is doing its job. Great little fun plane that. :)

I'm keen to fly mine from the front door. Get it above the houses and just stay up there till she cuts out and glide it in. B-)

The heli your looking at looks good as well. I'd be very tempted. :agree: :agree:

You definately sound hooked Dave. Congratulations. Another convert!

Fascinating thread. My experience with RC stuff is a few years ago the dearest bought me a 4 ch HoneyBee helicopter. Not ideal to start your RC heli experience with but hey stick on the training balls on and I was away, well skipping around the garden like a demented hovermower without the hover bit... We went on holiday took the dogs and the helicopter, I spent two days mastering the bugger and finally got it to hover and move around a bit, mainly under some sort of control.
I was so impressed I called the dearest to come and look, she did, I crashed it she said "you got that sorted then" and went back to her book. I looked at the wreckage and ended up spending £25 on new bits.
New bits fitted helicopter returned to box and sat there for 12 months. Then I saw this on eBay (this isnt the actual one I purchased)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FMS-Cessna-18 ... 5223wt_954

I was smitten, I spoke to the owner who had never flown it because he was scared to, we did a deal my helicopter and £50 notes. A week later I was in Wales on holiday (someone has to) so popped round to his house to collect it, Dearest most impressed as the journey home meant this monster sitting on her lap!!
I got the bugger running set the flaps and away she rolled on the field at the back of the place we were staying in. I realised that this thing needed a bit of a runway and not the little bit I had started her off on. It got airborne and I got scared, almost as much as the old farmers dog who was in the bushes doing some nature stuff. I realised I was going to hit the tree that was in its line of sight so I did a sweeping right hander and dumped into the bushes just as the dog was dumping something else into the bushes. Dog bit plane I cried, plane now repaired and in box......
Maybe I will have the courage to try again... maybe I will trade it in for a scalectric ?

That made me snigger

I managed to get the Champ out for 2.5 batteries worth of fun this morning.. come half way through the 3rd, black stuff was coming over and the wind started to gust so I called it a day. I didn't realise for ages that SWMBO was behind me (some way off) with the dog and was surprised to hear she was impressed with my prowess :-O
I'm still tempted to get the Blade 120SR.. I've even downloaded the manual  Not sure how well the guv' would take it though. In fact, I know she'd not take it well at all  Question is.. how long can I resist *-) :worried:

I though of you a couple of weeks ago mate. I was over the common (with the Champ as it happens) and watched your chopper going over wondering if you were in the back! :)

That's a nice looking model. I'd be scared to fly it too.. well, not to fly it as such, scared of all the things that can go wrong  The Champ is only 38g so doen't really hurt itself too much if I make an unscheduled meeting with terra firma. THAT on the other hand looks like it weighs a great deal more, goes a great deal faster and would cause a great deal more damage in the event of an unscheduled landing! :worried:

I'll bring the glue kit with me

I'd imagine the Cessna would need a paved surface to take off.. perhaps to land too. There's a road at the back of my crescent long enough to use but you'd have a 50/50 on takeoff/landing. Go one side and you're on the common.. go the other, you're into someones house :worried: A lot of our winds here are northerly or northwesterly which isn't condusive to using the road. I've thought about it but don't want to be knocking on doors.. excuse me missus, can I have my plane back please
