Looking over at FSDeveloper, it seems the answer is no, Ben. There is talk of Arno incorporating some simple animation into MCX, so maybe all is not lost.

Cheers Dave. That's a shame. I might build it as two components and then import it into something else to do animation. I'm assuming an oscillating platform could be done in 3DS or something like that?

If you want to model it, I can animate it for you if you like Ben.

Just wondering if it could be done using xml - something like a ground service vehicle, with a wobbly platform controlled by an xml timer?

Hi Mike,
There might be a few ways to skin it. I'll park it or now though as I'm not entirely sure where on the site it was located (I've a few thoughts, but I'm going to get some confirmation before starting.) It would be nice to do it properly if I can as it would give our rotary chaps a bit of fun. There was also another non oscillating platform at one point one point somewhere on the site as there are pictures of a Harrier sitting on top of it. I'll need to do the hangers anyway, so need to progress with that. There also seems to be some confusion (in my head anyway) about where some of the other bits are. There is a catapult at runway level and another on the raised deck, and an arrestor area. Some info seems to have the arrestor gear on the steel deck! There is also a cordite cat somewhere on the site. Some amazing aircraft lived there, from what I can tell:-
Fleet of Devons
various Meteors
several Varsities
comets
javelins
sea vixen
hunters
Vulcan
VC10
1-11
Shorts SC1
Fairey FD1
2 x Fairey FD2 (one of which later became BAC221)
Scimitars
EE P1A
Sea Venom
Phantom
And many more visitors who used the facilities.
Gnats
Auster AOP9
Andover
HS748
Hawk
Harriers
Tornado
HS125
Wessex
Puma
Avro 707
HP115
Boulton-Paul P111A
Buccaneers
Shorts SB5
Hunting 126
Bristol 188
EE Lightning
Whirlwind
Scout
Lancaster

Hi Chaps,
Found this news reel of the deck in operation. Hard to believe this was in use right up until flight operations ceased...

A cautionary tale:- Backups are very important!
As some of you may know I have all of my scenery on a dedicated disk (SSD) that I point both FSX and P3D to. Last night I was doing some work for a friend and was updating his HP server. Some of the updates take the form of a USB memory stick image. Those clever chaps at HP provide a little utility where you plug in the USB memory stick, run the program and it wipes the USB memory stick and puts the image containing the update files onto said stick. This is great and works very well.... Unless in the heat of the moment you didn't notice that the clever little program had selected your SSD drive and not the USB. As a result, the SSD with all of my scenery files was formatted. Fortunately, Thurleigh is also on my OneDrive, but Belfast, Radlett, Sunderland, Hatfield, all of my AI flights and Shipping are all gone.

Cheers Dave, between day job, helping a mate out with some servers and traveling up and down to Bradford each day this week, I haven't even looked at it until tonight. Its maybe not as bad as it seems as I've found my EGAC on an old disk (that needs some re work given my new found friend in Sketchup

) I've some bits of the others so I'll re compile them in ADE and see whats there, but that will probably be next week now.
