Thanks for that, Nev - interesting.

Do you have the graphics at the default setting or higher?

Unfortunately, running fullscreen in FSX prevented me from exporting panels to my second monitor - but I'll give it a try in P3D just to see what happens.

Really wanted to like this, but back to FSX for me. Not spending £300 on a new graphics card to get it to work. B*gger :((

There is no need to copy aircraft, just add the path in the Prepar3D cfg.

I didn't know you could specify a full path outside the P3D working directory, that's great George.

RE the graphics cards, I've a 1.25GB Geforce 560ti (the special edition with the extra cores) and it runs P3D very well. I'm sure it would run better with a better card, but its no worse than my FSX.

This is what I have in Prepar3D.cfg:

SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\Submersible
SimObjectPaths.7=SimObjects\Weapons
SimObjectPaths.8=SimObjects\Countermeasures
SimObjectPaths.9=J:\!FSXAircraft
SimObjectPaths.10=J:\!AIAircraft
SimObjectPaths.11=J:\!WOAI_Aircraft
SimObjectPaths.12=J:\!FTXAI_AIRCRAFT
SimObjectPaths.13=j:\!MAIW_Aircraft
SimObjectPaths.14=j:\GAAM Aircraft

Good post, George.
As you probably have above, this would also let you have different SimObjects on different drives.

[Edit] - Does it automatically bring in any specific gauges, effects etc ?

Sorry to read that it's not working for you, Colin. Enjoy FSX.

I have a GTX580 1.5GB (below LM's recommended 2.0GB) and P3Dv2 performance absolutely trounces that which I can get with FSX on the same system.

It will if you copy them to the P3D folders, but I have all of the appropriate gauges in the panel folder of each aircraft.

Nev, the following may be a work around, But note I have not tried this.
If you have Accu-Feel installed in another location (FSX, P3Dv1.4) then go to that sims 'Modules' folder and copy both 'A2A_Feel.dll' and 'AccuFeelMenu.dll' to the modules folder in you P3Dv2 installation.

Alternatively, follow the route that I took.

I went to 'Control Panel \ Uninstall A Program' and selected first, 'Accu-Feel Air, Land and Sea', then 'Accu-Feel' and in each case selected 'Uninstall/Change'. On the 'Select Uninstall Method' window that opens, select 'Custom' and make sure it's pointed to any previous P3D installation (you may need to follow this process for both'Accu-Feel Air, Land and Sea' and 'Accu-Feel'). Once all previous P3D installations are removed, I created the 'Modules' folder within the main P3Dv2 folder. I then re-installed Accu-Feel, pointing it to the P3Dv2 installation. I then manually added the text to the DLL.XML file (as described previously). Following this, I installed the Accu-Feel update, again pointing it to the P3Dv2 installation.
Note - I've never used the migration tool.
I hope the above sorts out your problem. As before, if you have any problems please get back to me.

Regards

Kevin

Thanks for the info, George - I'm only intending to point to AI aircraft, so don't need panels etc, so that should be pretty easy.

Regarding graphics cards - mine is due an update anyway (and I was always concerned about having just 1GB VRAM - and DCS have openly stated it won't be enough to run DCSWorld as it develops - and 8GB of system RAM is recommended, too) so I personally don't see it as costing me £300 to fly a sim. I found the card I'll buy, anyway - and it's £260 Link. I'm 'only' upgrading my RAM (to 2x8GB), VGA card and motherboard (to a now 'old' one - P8Z77) and two small SSDs and yet it's going to cost me £715 :-O And here's me thinking technology was supposed to be getting cheaper! 3 years ago I built a top performing super rig, with everything new except the hard drives and it cost me £610.

Interesting article I just read on a website producing a 'migration tool' for FSX to P3D.

LINKY

These kind of things are always doing the rounds and I don't normally bother - for many reasons - but this caught my attention and I thought some of you might like it.

Concerning Flight1 and GEX and P3D and revoking customer activation keys. I don't exactly agree with some of the statements made by this company (especially about the cost of taking court action in the EU), but that's one of the reasons I view such stories mostly as entertainment.

btw Kevin - I reckon it's the extra horsepower that is helping your GTX580. Wish I could afford that much on a card!
