A lot of passenger ships sported green decks too as it it was the colour of the special paint.

Maybe it was a fashion statement, but green seemed to be very common throughout

Apparently green is restful on the eye in high glare sunlight...at least so said my musketry instructor.......

Green is supposed to be restful to the eye and the reason gven as to why monitors had green dispalys in the early days and cars started to have green dashboard lights.

Nuffin to do with 'shipping 'em green' then?

As this is the Remembrance weekend, I thought I'd add this photo of an unknown soldier. I found the picture amongst family photos when clearing an uncle's flat, but have no idea who he is or where it was taken. Presumably he was a relative of mine and it would appear to be a WWI uniform, but beyond that I have no idea what the story behind the picture is.

Tks for that It's a daunting task trying to find stuff like this but not impossible mate. The difficulties start when older generations pass away, like your uncle who would probably have known who this chap was. One would presume it was a family member but nothing is ever certain There's an enormous amount of WWI info available in the public domain but you still need a good starting place.

Good luck with the search Allan.. should you go down that route. It'd be nice to know who he was
