Watching my footage, it sounds as though the power was chopped just after it got airborne, although sound does take a a few seconds to travel to the ear, of course. I would have thought the power would normally have been retarded just before, or as the nose wheel was lifted.

Going by the photos and looking at Google Maps, I'd estimate that it lifted off about a third of the way up of the 3000m runway. The speed of sound is roughly 340m/s at sea level, so you're looking at around 3 seconds for the sound to travel the 1000m back to you.

I dunno about you lot but this is starting to run into GDU territory. I have my theories (which will be right regardless of the official outcome  ) and I'm sure you all have yours. From the shots I've seen of her in the air, the 'gas' is still on but I stress again.. it is difficult from a 'still' to determine at what point the shot was taken.. eg, on the up or on the down.
To try and put this into perspective.. I've only ever flown a 'real' jet in the sim.. the C1K sim at Brize and believe me, things happen very, very fast once you unstick. One second you're on the ground and what seems only a couple of seconds later.. you're worrying about 'cleaning up' at 1500ft. This is no problemo for 'real' crews who do this as a living.. it's routine. I don't know the history of the crew of 'Lusty Lindy'.. that is whether they're 'current' pilots but however they got themselves into that situation, they were skilled enough to get out of it and walk away ;-)

Anyone have an idea when an official release might be made??

Teasin Tina = Brunters
Lusty Lindy = Elvington

This is what happens when you only have 2 braincells but have 2 choices to make  :D

Cheers Chris
