We never took our pylons off...Here we are doing formation aerobatics with 100 gallon tanks on the inboard pylons but the outboard pylons are still on:-

Did having the flaps are those settings give better manouverabilty.....?

Were they kept at those settings throughout the sequence....?

Thanks Peter.....

Yes Tony,

That is 20 degrees of flap and it was set for the whole performance...Bear in mind that is Kilimanjaro behind us and that goes up to over 17,000 feet and also we are based at Nairobi Airport which is at 5,500 feet. That bit of flap gave us more bite for manoeuvring...Here is that team:-

The Boss on the left of picture is Bob Ramirez...Number two is Tim Cohu...Three is Pete Biddiscombe and I'm the box man.

I had the privilege of flying in a 2 seater from 237OCU at Lossie in the 80's....I was the CO's driver and i kept nagging him for a flight.... :flying:

And i got my wish....sadly no camera because i was too excited , but oh the memories..... ;-)

That Kilimanjaro shot was taken by an airman flying in the right hand seat of a two seater...He later got one published in "Illustrated London News". I believe he also used a colour camera on that trip but I never got to see those :)

I might have been the mechanic who strapped you in Tony.

I worked on the 237-OCU flightline between 1979-1981, on the Bucc's and Hunters. I remember many staff from the station getting "jollys" in our T7's.
When I left Honington to go to Laarbruch I was lucky enough to get a flight myself.
We flew east over to Southwold, did a flypast on a light-ship, then back to the coast for a 5 minute areo' session. Then low-level RTB.
A fantastic experience.
