Fascinating, Kit, thanks a lot for that info. I'm trying to find any specifics I can on the raids, so that gave me quite a bit of detail. If they weren't bombing by radar and only visually, how were they able to pull off these raids by night? I'm assuming they had their targets marked for them by pathfinders or something, or maybe not, and that's why the raids were ineffective. Unless they used an Oboe-like system discussed recently in another post. Perhaps someone can clarify.

Regarding the Sea Harrier attack on the second a/c - how badly damaged was it? Also, why did the other a/c in the group fail to get near their targets (this was the approaching fleet I assume), and do we know exactly what the targets were and the planned altitude for attack? I just wonder how they expected these crews to evade the fleet's defences and still pull this off without any ECM gear (I have photos showing ECM pods fitted underwing at a later point in the conflict).

Good thing it's not carrying an Exocet......... :roll: 25 years and 4 days after the loss of the Sheffield.

I'll dig further into the books and se if I can find more about Gruppo 2's raids. Watch this space.

Cheers Kit, and yes, the old exocet had rather nasty results for the Sheffield and possibly the Atlantic Conveyor, can anyone else confirm if this was the case? Casualties on both sides as always, war is ugly as we know.

A rather more uplifting side note concerns a friend of my mothers whom we met travelling in Argentina in the mid '80s. He had apparently shot a SHAR down during the conflict either by AAA or missile, I forget, and the pilot had ejected with a broken collar bone. His name was Geoffrey something, I forget that too, but using my mother as a translator, this friend was able to contact the pilot and apologise, settle up the odds etc. They corresponded for a while I think and became friends, as is often the case after a war. Nice to know we are all (well, most of us) human after all!

Those screenshots of the Super Etendard, Skyhawk, Camberra and MB339 look like they were all taken in FSX? Am I correct?

If so, I'd love to know how well they work in FSX? Are they largely compatible, or are there lots of missing guages etc.? Do you have links to any FSX updates for them?

Which Skyhawk are you using?

Is the MB339 from Lago (part of their Military Fighters package)??

The Skyhawk is Razbams and all works fine, the Super Etendard, the Canberra and the MB have the missing gauges problem but this is easily fixed for one that have the Abacus panel maker.( I had it but due to a mayor pc crash i lost everything)

The MB is a repaint of Bjorn Buchners Atlas Impala, i think you can find some argentinian repaints at simviation or

Here is a few more shots taken from a fs-movie (Falkland motive) i'm doing, so the quality will bee poorer than in FSX. Here displaying the VCs.

Unfortunately i haven't any british planes that participated in the Falkland conflict yet so i can't include them for the time being. The Sea Harrier from UKMIL unfortunately causes my pc a CTD so im anxiously awaiting a FSX upgrade for it:

God, those cockpit shots are flipping gorgeous...the effect of speed is clearly shown...I was a bit sceptical about FSX, but not so much now. Can't wait to see the FS movie from this.
