Yo Dave
Not being picky

.......
But Victorian became Queen in 1836....so Princess still needed.
Still I'm enjoying you enthusiastic recounting of your trip

Enthusiastic though inaccurate by the looks of things
Never was a big fan of the Victorian era so an easy hole for me to fall in to

OK.. a bit of investigative work required rather than an outpouring of waffle

Why is it you can never find a Wikepedia when you want one
I'm on the case

It wasn't Princess Caroline von Hapsburg-Hohenzollern was it ? She was quite keen on sailors, so its said. And easily pleased too.

I have really enjoyed reading this thread Dave,I was unfortunate?? enough to live at (onboard) HMS Collingwood when i was posted to work at Swanwick Mil,I used to sit down on the coast near Gosport watching the ships go by in the summer. :drinkers:
I went on a 4 day sailing exped up and down the solent, and wondered what half of the big ships were sitting in port. The only qualified sailor on our little boat was an RAF Flt Lt, so he had no idea what they were either.
I can safely say i am not cut out for the sea,as i spent most of them four days hungover and terrified of falling in
Pete.

Your narrative made these an interesting set of photos.
I know absolutely nothing about ships so without your text, they would have meant nothing.
Anyway my contribution to the Warrior story, care of Google:
Princess Alexandra
Previous link didn't work again, so let's try with an image of the page I found

Thanks for sharing those....
I mainly go through Portsmouth on my holidays to France, and make a point of looking at the Ships of the RN as I pass, its nice to be able to know what they are and some of their names,
Enjoyed looking at both sets.

I think Ian has the Princess question resolved there.
