Chris is correct - our company bought 3 MD80s from Mexicana = whch were fairly low time acft two very quickly became parts the third is currently at Goodyear being refurbished to return to service We also had an ex
Continental MD82 that wound up at Walnut Creek being canablised and shortly thereafter became beercans - The biggest problem we have is
fleet communality - half the fleet is ex SAS but the rest is a mix of Korean Air, Mexicana, Alaskan and even BWIA - so many part items dont match.

That Farnbororough I think is 1950
According to this:
http://www.unrealaircraft.com/classics/ ... z_show.php
it is 1949. Looks like the source that Leif clipped.
And I wasn't around then.

Hi Ian
The Tay Viscount first flew in March 1950 and appeared at Farnborough that year.
That was the only time it was shown publicly.....which is how I knew the year
So definitely 1950

Well I thought it was 1950 or possibly later....not earlier
So when that 1949 came up I did a simple search to confirm the date.
A lot of what is on the web is wrong

It IS Farnborough 1950!
I still have my yearbook from that year.
From left to right (top to bottom):
Blackburn B-54 Y.A.5; Vickers V.700 Viscount
A.W.55 Apollo; Vickers V.668 Varsity; H.P. Hermes V (G-ALEU)
Gloster Meteor N.F.11; Vickers V.663 "Tay-Viscount"
Bristol Brabazon
I have seen Viscount, Meteor N.F.11 and Varsity - all in the picture.
What you can't see on this picture is the Blackburn Universal Freighter (WF320) that was parked alongside the Y.A.5.

Hi Nils
If you click on the link in Ian's post there is a wider view and the Universal is there near to a Comet.......presumably one of the two prototypes.
