Jonesy, Ian

Not playing mines bigger (Which of course it is  ) But took Tag out
to Tule Springs State park about 10 miles north of Sin City and besides a plethora of water fowl (I do so love being able to use that word in a sentence) we saw these two guys (Both female - both working the same range - which I understand in the goshawks case is pretty remarkable)

I didnt realise that the Goshawk is quite a bit smaller than the Red Tail

Tag was totally in awe of them both - especially when the Goshwak stooped on a chipmunk who was dumb enough to stick its head out of its burrow.....Tag "Its going to crash Daddy" Me "No tag its smarter than that its getting lunch"

Ah the joys of fatherhood :)

Ian
Heh, in that very same tree is about 5 well-stocked feeders
Ive actually seen one pluck a Greenfinch off the feeder as I was watching it! Also found a few piles of Collard Dove feathers.

Very nice birds there Leif, the only time I see stuff like that is when they are flying at about 1500 feet

Sparrowhawks do pluck their prey.

We've found a few piles of feathers in the garden, each time with just a beak as the only other remnants of a sparrow.

If one has taken a collared dove, must have been a female since they are larger.

Never got a photo as good as yours Jonesey - ours are camera shy!

And nice goshawk photos Leif.

I'm going to have to dig out my bald eagle and osprey photos

I once found a Starling's head!
She wasnt that bothered about me tbh, in fact I had to knock on the window to get her to look at me

Not my photo Im afraid Ian - wish it were - Actually we are going back out to Tule Springs today so Ill take the camera and maybe get lucky - with the amount of chipmunks and moles around neither the two ladies who live there lack for anything.
