Sounds like a bloody nightmare Rick... I don't know how you have the patience for it. That said, I bet they put the stuff back in with SP1... after everyone has spent ages trying to get workarounds for it. :worried:

A good friend of mine who works for M$ was telling me they are very unimpressed with Aces on this release. The Flight Simulator product is a franchise and MS are pissed that Aces have made them look like a bunch of muppets... Partly their own fault though for not properly QAing it, but Aces had asked for more autonomy for FSX.... don't think that will happen again. :worried:

I have all of mine & all of DMs models working in FSX.

Jp has a couple of small anomilies & DM's models have no glass & some untextured parts in the VC but other than that they work fine.

Mach meters read funny in FSX.
Smoke effects need re mapping as they changed the Z,X,Y format
to Z,Y,X in FSX
So much for the bullcrap MS say about compatability then... Like many others I have FSX and FS9 I will only use FSX for VFR scenery flying in fact I use it as a completly different sim.. FS9 is the better sim as I have loads of add-ons I will not be buying them for FSX... I may go with the Gary Summons UK scenery but I will not be adding FSNAV and other stuff when it arrives as I can't keep buying new stuff all the time for something that should be backwards compatible, the only thing backwards are the MS designers..tarts...

which models can't you get working ?.

Hi Rick,

I have problems with the 748/Andover of which the issues have already been highlighted. I can only get the VC-10 working correctly in FSX the Viscount has no windows and the 1-11 won't show up in Aircraft menus at all.

This is the main reason I still use FS9 for all the classics and use FSX for VFR low and slow. :smile:

Hi Eddie

I used the 1-11 in the FS.X demo

Only missing glass and effect problems were noted as I never looked at the VC.

The sounds though were awful as I panned around in spot view with violent tone changes.

I know othe others running the 1-11 so no show up problems here :think:

:dunno:

I'm not sure that M$'s default airfields have EVER lined up in the UK!

Bones issued an upgrade to FS02 (I think..) that put all the runways of every airfield in the UK in line with the true positions, which was worth it's weight in gold to those of us using the VFR scenery.

I'll bet that the file won't work in FSX though, just because M$ have changed all the coding while still not getting the positions correct <sigh>

Hi Vegas

The 748/Andover just needs it's generic textured taken from the FS9/texture folder and placed in each livery folder.

As far as i know.

thats all i have done and it works here.

some Bloke who never asks for my permission to modify copyrighted files (David Evans) released a patch that has caused me to recieve 1000s of e mails that the patch he made does not work.

did you by chance use that patch ?. as it messed up the FDE terminally.

FSX is an absolute pain in the backside for me as there are all these secret problems that people have that i am supposed to fix even though nobody had told me about them :dunno:

Rick

Hi Rick,

I will try that, ta mate. I never use other peoples patches for anything unless its been endorsed by the original author as it can create all sorts of problems. Still not sure why the 1-11 isn't playing ball though.. :think:

Hi Vegas

I have the 1-11 working here.

I used the sounds that Mark made over on the Happy Otter's site.

The original sounds messed about at the time with my soundcard in FS9.

Rick

I have popped the 1-11 Aircraft folder into the usual Simobjects/Airplanes folder but nothing is showing up. Any ideas? :dunno:

Hi Vegas

Think you need DMFS shared files folder too in there.

I have a normal Aircraft folder (fs9 aircraft,FSX models in simobjects)

used with this added to my FSX.cfg
[Main]
User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6=Aircraft

Might work if you put DMFS shared files into simobjects

As far as FSX knows if it can't find the panel it assumes it's ai and won't show

Regards
Rick
