i thought the 707 was meant to perform better, that's why i bought it! I paid £3 so i don't care either way

my pc is pretty darn average. 3.4 p4, 1gb RAM and an nvidia 7600GS overclocked.

Gevers..

I don't get anywhere near as low as 7-8fps on this XP2400 so I'd suggest those poor folk have something not set up right. I can't give you a figure now as I took it (and 99% of my other payware aircraft) OFF this system as I never fly the darned things and was short of disc space. I have it on my XP3200 so I'll let you know what I see on that

EDIT...
At SeaTac.. midday.. fair wx I see a low of 31fps in the 2D panel and a low of 21fps in the VC. System.. XP3200.. 1gigDDR400.. Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo (nforce2).. Ati x700pro 128mb.. sata1 160gig HD.. WinXP SP2. Not exactly record breaking equipment is it

I bought it a few weeks back because it was so cheap. But my PC is even cheaper  and wouldn't run it. But I wasn't bothered because I usually fly the HJG 707s which are extremely frame rate friendly and you have a wonderful choice and they are even cheaper (free)! Incredibly good models with an excellent (2D only) panel and marvellous sound sets.

Have you had a look? HJG should be your first port of call for 707s, DC8s and Convairs.

Love the 707 as a jet Ian but not in BEA Airtours I'm afraid :huf:

Of course, the HJG jet is cheaper and is the only worthy alternative

Xp3200, is that the AMD3200+? What's the GHz for that? I'm guessing your graphics card is a wee bit older than mine ... so ... perhaps it will run [slams fist into hand, a lá Tintin] !!

Well blow me down  I'd have thought you would have liked that. I know 'red square' is your favourite livery but I'd have put money on you being a secret admirer of the flying jack! Is it just the connotations of 'airtours' perhaps. The thought of all those bucket-and-spaders jetting off to foreign climes when they should on the charabanc to Blackpool?

If so - I'm with you all the way

No mate.. nowt to do with the bucket and spade brigade  I love 'Flying Jack' on the Trident3's and on the Comet's.. even the Viscounts but it doesn't suit the 707 in my humble opinion. The 707 is a great looking jet.. not quite as appealing as the VC10 but not that far behind. It is, I guess, possible to make even the VC10 look dodgy with the wrong paint and in that vain.. BEA Airtours doesn't fit the 707. BOAC.. BCAL.. BMA.. yup, she looks the doggies but not Airtours I'm afraid.

I have the VC10 done in BEA RS and believe me.. it's not a patch on other aircraft.. Viscount, Vanguard, Comet.. even the Herald  I also have a Varsity done in RS and it looks good!

You know Tony, that looks better. Could be something psycological about seeing BEA on a 707  I didn't like it wearing BA red tail either to be honest :worried:
