VFFR and VFTC

On most Boeing and McDonnell Douglas products, VFTC is charted as "VClean" and VFFR is charted as "VFRet" (Flap retract speed) or "VFxx" where "xx" is the first retraction flap detent in degrees (for the DC-10, this is 5). On the newer aircraft, the flap speeds are set automatically and shown on the PFD speed tape and all you do is move the flap handle forward to the correct notch as the airspeed builds past the respective flap speed.

Sounds like the bus - took forever to get it through my thick head there are four detentes on the flaps but they are different flap settings depending on weight, speed etc etc etc -- As tonks said -- boring any eijiot can fly a new
