Hi CP

I'm pretty sure the cadets always went in the front seat of the chippy.

& Phillip there is actually a framerate benefit from using the 3d gauges.

Rick

Whilst in the ATC I had 14 air experience flights from RAF Woodvale & RAF Abingdon during the 1980's. All of which were in the rear seat.

I remember doing Air Ex flight at Cambridge in the mid 60s in their Chippies -I always flew in the pointy end - Many Spitfire daydreams over the Cambs country side until the voice in the headset told me he wanted his
aeroplane back

Leif

BTW Rick, Dave or someone with the books - was WP360 a Cambridge Chipmunk - the registration seems to strike a chord

I had one flight from RAF Woodvale in a chippy, i think i was in the back seat. the flight was along the coast to blackpool and back. the only other flight i had was in a sedbergh at RAF Burtonwood.
but now i can fly in the front seat of my very own chippy and go where i want and when i want.

I also flew in the Chippy with the ATC (though not 14 times, unfortunately) and this was also in the rear seat. RAF Shawbury for me.

Was in the air cadets for a year and they offered 1 trip in a glider to 1 cadet.

Decided it was a waste of time and left.

Hi All,

Yes rear seat for me too (at least from Shawbury - can't remember Cambridge, which was my first trip in a Chippie). The rear seat was probably favoured so they could make running change-overs - more likely to keep little Tommy out of the spinning prop !

Cheers

Rich

22 flights in the Chippie with the CCF. Mostly from Filton and almost all from the back seat. I remember one from the front when I was supposed to be navigating cross country.

All my Chipmunk flights from Cambridge, Abingdon and Coltishall were in the rear seat.
