With the ever increasing growth of McLeland Field, Peter, I think a regular freight service from Europe to the Far East on the Polar Route could bring enormous benefits. Think Harrod's hampers from London and fine wines from the Bordeaux. I don't remember, but as I hadn't been First Class trained in those days I'm sure the meals weren't of that standard by the time I'd finished with them! In fact the pilots always got me to order curries. I though it was because they liked them.
