I did have this same problem at one point to which your referring to, and it was a right pig to sort. Yes there is a Weldpoints flag in the options of the makemdl - I'm sure though, I tried this and it had little or no effect if compiled on or off.

In the end after some messing I'm sure I solved it by re-scaling the VC. Both the VC and exterior model are now scaled (3ds - same for GMax I believe, unsure what you use?) under the units system as:-

Metric = Meters

1.0 = Meters

Might be wrong, as was a very frustrating time and I was tearing my hair out trying to resolve it, changing loads of different settings. Then just suddenly it was ok, so not entirely sure what I did to correct it, but suspected problem was with my initial scaling.

Seem to recall I had also had a problem with the Panda Direct X Exporter I was then using and re-verted to an older one.

Hope you get it resolved and sorted soon - the Chipmunk piccys look pretty stunning though.

Thats Amazing!!!

Quite possibly one of the best V.C's I've seen in a while!

(with, of course, the exception of the wonderfull V.C's in D.Maltbys models and the rest)

Hi Mike

the Makemdl tag for weldpoints only effects the exterior model.

it still welds the VC parts.

Rick

I hadn't realised that - explains why it seemingly had no effect on my VC :k:

Can only suggest try re-scaling or check the .x file exporter you use perhaps.

Just grabbed the following off another forum

http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az= ... c_id=19658

The simple solution to the problem is to simply turn on "autoweld" and "optimize." No more problems with small parts. Of course, realize that FS itself is limited in resolution to 2mm, irrespective of which program produces the model. The only caveat with turning off "autoweld" is that you become responsible for keeping the mesh clean, with no overlapping polys, but then that's simply good design philosophy to begin with.

Hope helps?

Mike

I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

Hiya - thanks for interest :dance:
Image
Unfortunately I’m not the quickest or most dedicated of modellers!!
Since last posting have completed the seats and popped them in.
Image
Then came the whole new world of FSX to push me back again!!
Decided I’d quite like to convert the animated crew to Skin animated – then after much trial and error realised I didn’t have clue what I was doing and gave up to await the arrival of some kindly tutorial on the net! ANYONE HELP?
Image
Then decided to toy with the idea of having a tow tractor, so did a copy of one I’d seen at Bruntinghthorpe (unskinned atm). Yet to decide if going to stay with this and how exactly it would be animated and how it would disappear on command – more trial and error I suspect! ANY IDEAS?
Image
Then I got messed about with FSX animation on the drag chute and crew (drag chute was on tailhook_ and crew on wingfold_ tags when under FS2004 – but can’t see how I use these with the FSX SDK – Anyone know if you use different tag in FSX, cuz I don’t seem to be able to get them to work at the moment – yet more trial and error? ANYONE HELP?

So the short answer is – Nope !!, sorry, but not too much to report on really at the moment - but getting there, slowly!!!…

Regards
Mike.
