Tony, the make sure Windows Updates are set to notify you before taking any further action, then when it pops up in the System Tray again, uncheck the update and instruct WU not to show you the update again. You can retrieve the update any time after by going to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and using the Restore Hidden Updates function.

I've been using IE7 for quite a while. Two Beta versions and now the final one. I've had no problems and it runs as quickly as Firefox. With the increased security, it's probably on a par with Firefox, which I also have. My personal preference is for IE7 - I like it very much.

There is a known issue with Flight Simulator 2004 and this has been mentioned before on this forum. This is the official Microsoft fix:

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004--If Flight Simulator 2004 stops responding after you have installed Internet Explorer 7, find the oleacc.dll file in the Flight Simulator folder and rename it to oleacc.old. Then restart Flight Simulator.

I didn't have a problem, but did the above anyway as it seems to be a redundant file.

Just got it meself, and up until now no problems at all....

Cheers guys for the info and experiences... I will do a restore point first also that DLL file many thanks for the info on that, I guess it's safe to delete/rename it . Wonder what it does or does not as the case maybe!
Garry is your PC running IE7? I was not sure from your post in this thread? wondered if you had a problem.
I think I will install it on the lap top first then the main machine

Firefox is still superior. It's updated more often, it looks better and there are a nice selection of extensions for it.

You don't have to wait to be invited to download MS stuff. There's all sorts of interesting stuff available from the MS Download Center. Well, provided you undergo the Genuine Windows Advantage scrutiny first!

Windows Defender is an excellent free, real-time, anti-malware program that updates itself every couple of days and scans in the background. There's also a recent security update to DirectX 9.0c and loads more besides.

I'm off now to load up the van. I'm moving out before CB gets here with his machete :axe:
