Dave,

After flying umpteen virual hours in your BAC 1-11 (so many I can find my way round the panel blindfolded now I reckon....) I visited the Brooklands Museum last week. They have G-ASYD there, currently a 475 but it has been the prototype 400 and 500 at various times in its life.

Standing in the cockpit door was JUST like flying your model! I felt instantly at home and I've never seen a 1-11 cockpit for real in my life ever. One of the museum guides was a little suprised when I told him this, he didn't realise such accurate reproductions existed in our virtual world.

Well done indeed.
Regards
Kit

Hi Kit,

Glad you liked the resemblance as most of what you see in the pre-510ED panel is actually SYD

I don't know who was the onboard guide at the time but I suspect he was not a regular. Some of SYD's team acutally use FS9 and are well aware of DM's models and the origin of the panel  Funny.. she wasn't open on Wednesday

Hi Kit

I popped in to Brooklands a couple of months back with my wife & little daughter.
Only my second visit there & the first time I've played pilot in a 1-11 since well before the VC was made.
It always looks so small in reality. The scale doesn't transfer into FS.
And it's amazing how much photos can flatten things.

They're a great lot over at Brooklands, they were so nice to us.
And because I was so overly interested in everything they let me play around more.
It was just like being Dave Booker!
The man did say they wouldn't normally have people play in the 1-11 cockpit because it's so tight for space & easily damaged. He then just left me to it for 15 mins.

Yes nearly all of the 1-11 panel is an edited collarge of Dave Bs ASYD photos.
Most of the 510ED panel is ASYD as well, cut up & rearranged with a bit of Trident thrown in.

Its just like being sat in AVMU again
I reckon I could have done  It still had about a ton of fuel in the wings and the guy told me that they used to have the APU going to try and burn it off.

ASYD looks like it would as well from inside the cockpit.
A couple of glowing lights is enough to convince me that the whole lot still works.

I remember a time when I used to have SYD flying over my house when it was doing circuits at Wisley. I got quite pissed off at the noise.

What I would give now to hear it again.

After a few months away, it was great to return to the latest update. Thank you so much!

I was flying it all day yesterday, hopping over to Dublin, Belfast, Cork, IOM and then into Bristol.

It felt so real, I thought I even saw the pilots windshield rattle, as if a few screws were coming away  . Or was it my imagination?

Anyway, I will tighten my shoulder straps from now on, and secure my cap!
Onwards and Upwards!!!!!!!!
