And on the chances of a DM 146?
Being a British Classic jet, there's always the slight chance of attempting it one day.
Probably payware for FS11 though, if there is ever such a thing.
I may give FSX a miss altogether.

Tks David

I agree with you about FSX. I honestly can't find the motivation nor do I have the desire to go out (or even add to basket) and get it. Not very often I'm happy with my lot but on this occassion.. everything runs tickerty-bo as-is so there will be no FSX purchase and subsequent PC upgrade in the foreseeable future. I still fly all of my VA flights on this old XP2400 and that's good enough for me

The best place to get ML's panel is from his site, there are two part, version 3 and then the service pack he produced in the summer... i really love it, although I was buggered if i could remember how to start it for the first flight, but now it only take me a few minutes....

As for a DM 146... I'll wait patiently, the updated one that JM was supposed to be working on seems to have died a death, and to be honest the early screen shots aren't a patch on the quality of what you guys churn out.... somebody remember to dust me down from time to time while I'm waiting

Yes Dave, FSX is just not capturing the imagination is it.
I'll probably get it some day, but there's nothing I've seen that makes me want this new one.
Back to the 146, I've got the 200 & 300 all up & running.
And I am chuffed to bits at managing to get it started from cold & completing a circuit without having to refer to the manual.
There's enough of a relationship with the 1-11 (in real & FS worlds)
Took a few attempts to keep the engines turning, but I'd forgotten that my model opens the HP cocks for you during startup.
Only the radios have me stumped.
Right that's the training done - I'm going to get me a type rating now.

Ah yes, thanks for reminding us about the BAe project website Ben.
I'm not sure I've got the very latest version so I'll give it a check.

I've given the JM model a trial run this evening and I don't like it much at all unfortunately. I dread to think what my landing rate would have been had this been live
Think I'll leave this alone for a while

Dunno Dave, I thought it was fine first circuit, but today I didn't like it much either.
It's very sluggish in roll & seemed way too nose high during approach.
I'm not sure what the landing speed is, but 130-140kt seemed plenty fast for no payload & 25% fuel in the wing tanks.
If you put some payload in, it makes it go even more nose up.
A 146 surely has to be level or slightly nose down on approach?
I'm no 146 expert, but have to admit to giving mine a quick tweak. Apologies to John if he has spent ages getting it true to life & I'm missing something.
In aircraft.cfg [flaps] section - lift_scalar=1.500
This lowers the nose during approach.
Also [flight_tuning] section - aileron_effectiveness=1.5
To give a more positive roll.
Just have to stop the man yelling 'sink rate pull up' at me now.

DM,
The real 146 was originally slightly sluggish in roll on the prototype (probably since fixed) but is definitely nose down attitude on finals, definitely not nose up. 130-140kts way too fast. I havent yet found a realistic 146 flight model since theres some oddities about the Eurowings one too.
I have a flight manual and various ops and maintenance manuals but they are not with me at the moment. This is one of several a/c I'd really like to see done in FS properly to the point I'm almost ready to have a go if I can only find the time!

A better tack seems to be to put the ML panel in the Eurowings model! :-) Need to tweak it a bit more though

In fact just checked, typical attitude on approach is 3 deg below horizontal.
