"You get what you pay for?"
CB, did you just forget that people pay for Norton!?
I seem to remember you reviewed it recently for one of our forum members. :gigle:
Dave, I only use AVG because it always rated highly in 'PC Plus' magazine when I was first looking at AV stuff.
I don't know much about AV, but if PC Plus recommend a free product it's got to be good, unlike the 'paid for' top place that Norton used to get.
To be fair, they now recommend Avast instead, but AVG still rates ok.
The way I look at it is this.
The worst AV program is one that isn't working properly because of some unseen problem.
Installing & uninstalling different software is the best way to screw your system, so changing AV could be more dangerous than sticking with the second or third best program.
I mean, how many of us would really know if our AV/Firewall is running perfectly or not?
Sorry to hear you're having problems Rick.
I'd have uninstalled McAfee for that kind of behaviour as well. Why do they think it's acceptable?
Norton (pre installed) screwed my system as well when it was removed using their own uninstall option.
Fortunately a System Restore did fix mine.
Hope you can get it sorted.
